taikor taikor, need advise here. recently just bought used e60 523i 2007. can you guys suggest what should I change 1st. if possible list up by priority. 2nd, if my side passenger did not wear seat belt for about 5 min. I will get alert coolant is low, but after turn off engine for 1 or 2 min. and passenger wear seat belt. the error will not come out. what is the issue?

As far as I know there's no link between seat belt and coolant indicator. This is probably a one off coincident. Did you test it out over again?

go for Diagnose and mechanical check up... from there you can plan your next action item... do it at you trusted mech or workshop..... like me i do it at wearnes Autohaus for 1st inspections... later rectify at out side shop.. that are cheaper

thanks for the response.

I suspect radiator may have small leak. I do some test, check the water level. start engine, no alert. drive slowly around 80-100 about 10 min, still no alert. up to 150, in less 1 min the alert come out again. so tomorrow before I go see mech, i will topup water level and see if the alert still have or not. if not, I will ask to check the hose pressure, maybe leak somewhere

only correct way to check on coolant system is to do a pressure leak. do not rely on top up, drive and open to see. Coolant expands and contract with heat so we cant really gauge the small leak if its present. only if big leak that you can see.

Wht would be your mileage be now? any record of major service at 100000kms?

If not, and your mileage is above that, then i will change all rubber hoses (coolant, oil, transmissions) fuel filter, and any visible rubber parts.

How often do you need to top up the radiator?

Did you bleed the radiator properly when topping up the radiator?

Please post the picture of the alarm that came on the dashboard. it might helps.

Yes there is. It called Scanner 2.0. Honestly, not worth the money coz it is still on the high price.

better go for the INPA Dcan cable. It can diagnose up to E90 and E60.

Was told by a BMW mechanic that you need to drive the car to high RPM or speed weekly to prevent oxidation forming in the engine. Is this true?

nah.....info for you.

http://articles.mbz.org/engine/diesel/italian/

also google "italian tune-up" and make your own conclusion.

i have owned my nissan livina for 5 years and 160k kms and last month i had the spark plugs replaced(first replacement since new-ngk irridium) diy.the intake manifold requires removal (what a pain) and once that is removed i can see the inlet valves and they were CLEAN!
i never used any additives or cleaner of any sort.my wife drives the car for pasar and pickup kids but occasionlly when i drive on the hi way i gave it real gas @ 4k rpms......food for thought
