Meaning to say if buy a CBU Recond from UK/Jap, it's better to buy pre-LCI models year 2007 below which is the N52 engine?

The N53 engine is meant for markets with low sulphur fuel conforming to EURO 4M standards and above. In Malaysia, it is still EURO 2M and high sulphur content might clog up the injector in the long run. Mine is N53 together with some other folks but it might take a while before things go bad. If you want N52 which will not have this issue (but some other issues like engine oil dropping), you can get local CKD models or Japan spec LCI's. Bottom line is, problems would exist and it's a matter of how bad it can become. Sometimes it's also about luck :)

If you want, just buy auto repair insurance like me. RM2K+ a year and they will cover if your engine or gearbox is damaged.

The insurance company is OPAL Auto Mart. There are certain restrictions like the car must be less than 3 years old or 100K KM. If you're interested I can share with you the policy and sell to you :)

I think for cars which are already registered, some procedures needs to be done, maybe Puspakom or some checks in the workshop. I will get more details and share with you :)

True also but if you buy a recond car and despite it being more than 3 years old originally, you can still buy the insurance. In short, it's supposed to be first 3 years from the registration date :)

IMHO, I would certainly won't mind paying the premium. E60 is packed with lots of sensors and electronics for example the active steering system alone will cost you more than RM18k. So it will be an ease of mind knowing that your car is insured for possible failures.

Then it is worth considering. what is covered under the policy besides engine and gearbox?
