My shocks were well over due recently and what was clear was that I'm not getting the same msport. Aftermarket was the decision.Choice was either KW V2 or RCS Clubman. RCS was slightly cheaper quoted at 6k. Emailed them to enquire further and Clayton briefly explain:-"Our damping technology is different from KW. We're digressive damping which is similar to Ohlins, Proflex, Reigers. The others KW, Bilstein and Moton are linear damping. What you get in our Clubman series are very similar to our Motorsport series. Which you won't get with the other mentioned brands. They have two separate divisions in their company handling the two product lines."their website http://www.rcs-suspensions.com/But more of their stuff on facebook https://www.facebook.com/RCS.suspensionsI knew there we good reviews of KW V2 and it can't go wrong. But seeing our local boys doing great stuff, I thought of giving support. There is no doubt looking at the stuff they did and achieved.According to Clayton, they have already done a set for E92 335i but they still need to take measurement as there will be differences. They did corner weight of the car with the following figures we obtained; ( Fuel Tank was full )Left Front : 359.5 kg Right Front : 420.0 kg Total Front = 779.5 kg ( 50.6%)Left Rear : 391.5 kg Right Rear : 369.5 kg Total Rear = 761.0 kg ( 49.4%)Total Weight = 1540.5 kgI could see they were quite impressed with the E90 weight distribution... :69:They basically took the shocks and took dimensions while the coils measured their compressions. The front bits would be coil-over while the rear, they decided to re use the existing msport springs with their struts. It took them slightly over a week to build the shocks. Meanwhile, there was a RCS fitted E60 530 at the shop and they offered me a joyride, just so that we can gauge the tuning level i'm expecting. All I can say, my jaw dropped. So I told them its the sort of level of tuning I can accept.10 days later, was back at the shop for installation but I was only able to collect the car the next day. In the meantime was driving super soft harrier, so when i took back the car there was of course, a marked difference in transition fr harrier & my car.Initial impression, I thot i was bit noisy and the car stiffer. But I think it was more of a change from harrier to beemer. So I just leave it at that and give more time for it to settle down.It was a busy week at the office and I did not have much chance to really test the car until the weekend, but did manage few quickies to take it around corners I'm familiar with. There was definitely more grip and the car was more stable and felt I could push more. On straight line there were some wobbling at the steering although the car is straight and stable. I suspected the wheels need to be repaired as I was highlighted one wheel slightly dented months ago. So I took a quick trip to Manjee at Sunway to get it repaired. Told Manjee the problem and we agree it would be the first thing to do . If the problem persists then it might be related to other stuff like linkages or bushings. Anyway 3 wheels need repair and all done 6 hours later. Problem was actually solved. happy. Then the weekend came and my wife asked me to take her to Ampang, , meaning DUKE highway!!! There are some bumpy stretch to test on he he.. It was a fast one, around 10 minutes from penchala link tunnel to MRR2. And the car was fab. This time around you can feel the wheels were actually kept on the tarmac all the time, meaning constant grip. Body roll or control was tight. The car does not feel like it was flying/jumping on uneven roads but follows the terrain sticking to the road levels. The other characteristics is driving over rough surface like the uneven paver blocks and rough patches to tarmac - those korek and tampal stuff on the road. Well now I don't have to slow down to these. Now I know why their rally cars are successful. And I'm still on RFT!!The shocks are more or less settled down now and I'm loving it by the day and now finding excuses to drive the car out ( like asking my wife late at night - Darling, would you like to go somewhere? / Prior to that , let's take your car). I have not change the bushes although I did ask them to take a look and replace if necessary. They said the bushes were still OK. only the front top mount had cracked and replaced. But I might replace the bushings very soon. The downside is perhaps the shocks need servicing every 20,000 kms which will cost around 1k I think. But on the other hand, you'll get a refreshed shocks like new, with all the oils replaced.I'm happy now ;-)
