Hi everyone! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Newbie from KK reporting. Got an R100GS hand me down from my dad who bought it from a German expat back in 1994. Was my first 'big' bike apart from the Shadow 600 I bought much later when I was studying in KL. Difference is like 'langit dan bumi' Plenty of memories though, took my wife out on dates waaay before we got married. Luckily my dad-in-law was cool about it. Had my first automotive accident on it too and still carrying the scar around like a medal. The old GS was definitely not an easy bike to learn.Anyway, the bike developed carb problems back in 2006 and since we couldn't get it fixed in KK it ended up lying around in the garage for the past 5 years collecting dust. Recently I convinced my dad if he's not planning to sell it as scrap metal we might as well get it fixed. Besides, I've been itching to go riding again after 5 years. So, I had it shipped to Glenmarie Auto Bavaria for the guys there go have a look at. If you happen to go there check out the black and yellow one with the SS plate.Which brings me back here. Was wondering if the seniors here can give me a heads up or recommendations as to where else I can get the bike fixed and restored? I'm sure the guys in AB are quite competent but this is still an old bike. Plus their pricing is a little scary and I've got a budget to keep. I've been in touch with Wunderlich and also had the opportunity to meet up with Jumah Khan who does restorations on old bikes. But since I'm not from KL and I hardly know any bikers there I don't have a reference point to find out if they are any good. Hope you guys can help me out in this department...Peace!!!
