Sewell,

Few weeks ago, I viewed some very nice orginal BMW rims from a chop shop at Puchong Perdana and the prices were reasonable.

hi bro,

can i know your rim is it all 4pcs is 18"x8.5J and what tyre profile you are running at?

this rim is lt light rim ?

cannot la, mine only 520 2.2 only. at 1st i'm thinking dont upgrade and change tyre to 215 55 16

bro sewell, i'm 520 2.2 too....go 17" enough.... I'm using BBS 17", 8.5. I used to be on 235/45 all round until 2 weeks ago, decided to just try out 245/45 rear. NICE, comfortable, can handle. Tyre also not expensive. I am using Hankook S1 Evo, Rm500 per piece for 245/45 and Rm420 per piece for 235/45. 215/55 R16 is not suitable. Smaller width doesn't mean better.

For 5 series, 16" should pair with 225/55. Why danger your life with smaller tyre? That's not worth any cents bro.

for 17 inch should pair with 225/45/17...235 is not suitable...245/45 is way out!
Not only will your speedo being not accurate, your gear ratios will be affected as well, as they are calibrated for a specific tyre diameter. In long run, not very good for the gearbox.
Just my humble opinion.

bro sewell,
dont you think bmw engineers realise that your car was 2.2 when they decided to put 225/55/16?
Just for thoughts.
Cheers brader
