Hi guys I live in KL and just started coming up in my business ventures. Planned to get an f30

long story short. Visited AB in malacca
They have pre reg f30 sales
Naturally they only have the 330e and 318i
I don’t like hybrid cars generally so I opted for the 318i
Do you think a 2019 f30 318i at 169k is worth it? despite the poor performance etc. I will get 5+1 year service free and warranty fr 5 years

If u not the kind of person who likes fast and spirited driving, this is actually a great city car. Been using it for a year now, it handles well. It doesnt have the power punch like my E90 325i and E30 320i, but it does give u a great mileage. I have no complaint so far. Much better comfort than E90. Momentum is your fren when driving this car.

I mean what do you think of the price mate? 168k

The price u wer quoted is pretty much the price quoted at AB's premium selection (bear in mind the price or a brand new unit it nearly 200k for the model). with all the 5yr BSRI still intact, u shld not worry that much. Yes, if u wer to approach a used car dealer with the same spec, u might be quoted a slightly lower figure.

Yes, the warranty matters, but that's the trick: Service + warranties are only good if you can get them. Many service centers (SC) in Klang Valley are often booked out for months for service. As for a faulty part, to get warranty, you're at the mercy of a slot at the SC — and at the mercy of often clueless SC technicians who don't know what's wrong with the car.

For example, 318i has a drivetrain error due to a faulty wiring harness to the turbos out of the factory... but only some technicians know how to diagnose that in the first place.

F30 318i is a good car, but heavy. The small engine sits at/behind the front axle so handling is great; it's small so whenever you want the "get up and go" it's not really there. That car could use a Stage 1 to 187hp... but I digress.

If I were in the market for a F30 again I'd get a F30 328i from 2012. At 7 years old it's about RM69,000 less than your new car, sure, but you have RM69,000 in your pocket to upkeep, fuel and mod that car for years... and Stage 1 for that car is about 300hp ;)
