can anyone help me with my situation,i was driving then suddenly i felt that my steering become very heavy on low speed n it couldnt move at all when its not moving..can anyone tell me the problem, the power steering oil is at high level..could it be the steering pump default.thx

is there any noise coming from the steering components when you turn?
Could be the power steering pump akak wayne pump or the steering rack.

Any leaks?

maybe the pump jam-ed ? could be oil less already...

could be the speed sensor on the car... but i notice e36 racks dun have sensor on the pump nor the on the rack..

if power steering belt snap, u totally cant drive coz your steering will be damm heavy and cant turn, i guess that is not the situatioh right?

still can drive but very hard to turn on low speed..
n i forgot to tell u guys that im driving a e46..
1 week ago when i turn theres some noise..
then yesterday suddenly when i make a corner the steering became very tight n there is no sound anymore..
the steering oil still got a lot..
no leaking..
i think it shud be the power steering pump..
anyone noe roughly how much??
thx bro affan, pussy, n mouse..

Could be any of these 2 problems.

1. Check your steering rack.
2. Power steering pump kaput.

I've recently been plague with the same problem on my E36. There was no power steering oil leak as well but when my mech opened up the steering rack there was leakage inside. The leak isn't bad but it was enough to affect the power steering. Overhauled the steering rack and everything is as good as new now.
