Hi,Its been 1 month now that I got me. E92 320i - been loving the sweet smooth ride in pale comparison to my old Honda. However I noted that the fuel consumption for the car have increased since I got it from usual 8.7 l/100km to an average of 10.5l/100km despite my driving style that's been gentle on the peddle. I've also noted on a few occasions during the rush hour traffic on idle the car makes a pop sound coming from the rear exhaust. The idling sometimes do felt a bit rough. I've read some posts that this could be due to ignition coils and spark plugs that is faulty or misfiring. I was wondering if any fellow forum members here have similar experience and what is likely the costs of repairing them. Have scheduled a check up next week with Ingress but want to know what to expect.

The brothers with 320i will be able to confirm this better --- I think 10.5 l/100km is very good fuel consumption for E9x 320i. You must be doing mostly highways to achieve that.

I have no experience with the pop sound or rough idling. But Ingress is a good place to go. You'll pay a little more, but there is peace of mind.

Welcome, welcome!! By searching on N46B20 or N42B20 you can learn lots about your engine and it's common issues. Your FC is very good! However rough idle can be caused by many reasons ie vacuum leak, faulty coil, faulty sensors etcs. Please get second opinion ya to avoid waste of hard earn money.

Have your taken your car for a full diagnostic at a BMW specialist? That would show up any error codes or misfiring. A ignition coil is only rm200, since yours is a 4 potter its only rm800 to replace all for peace of mind.

Thanks fellow members - will keep you guys posted once ingress performs the diagnostics check. Yes mostly in and around town and hv not press the throttle yet given that there's some tweaks that I'd like to tune. Last reading before I had refueled any was 9.5l/100km . Think the Fuel consumption is pretty alright it's just the popping sound that annoys me. Strangely there is no engine fault code indicator which perhaps the issue isn't as serious yet.

Finally got my report card from Ingress today. So it seems the diagnosed the problem not relating to any ignition coil or spark plug failure. They did a bit of retuning considering that it was running below the normal rev idle. Now car feels a bit more punchier on the throttle. Still need to monitor the next few days if problem resurface.
