Pontiac GTO Born 1964 and died in 1974  Reborn in 2004 with V8 5.7 liter 350hp LS1 engine, 0-60mph in 5.3 secs, and instead of taking a break and enjoy another year of GTO success decided to up the ante. :yahoo: The all new 2005 C6 Corvette was assigned a new V8 aluminium engine (with a new designation: LS2) where displacement went to 6.0 liters, 400 hp at 5200 rpm and 400 lb.-ft torque at 4000 rpm, 0-60mph in sub 5 secs(rumoured to be 4.8secs). The new LS2 redline raised to 6500 rpm compared to LS1 engine at 6000 rpm. Compression raised to 10.9:1, larger 90-mm single-blade throttle body, etc. Comes equipped with either 4 speed auto or optional 6 speed manual tranny.Priced at about 40k in US. Now thats value for money :D

There is a movie featuring this car, i think it is called "Fast Lane" directed by same team "2F2F". On DVD version, there is a preview and showing the car doing a lot of drifting.

The movie is "Last Ride" featuring Dennis Hopper. Didn't really enjoy the movie but rather the extra features with the GTO test drive and of course the exotic Nadine Velasquez :p

Yeah Fuhrer's right, it is indeed the Aussie Holden Monaro. These cars are sent to US and rebadged as Pontiac GTO with some subtle changes on bodylines, bonnet scoop, LHD, wheels etc to suit the American taste, as they found the Monaro to look a little boring as well as the stiff competition from Corvette and the almighty Mustang.

Whats gonna happen now is that the Americans are gonna produce the Pontiac as an original and export them to Ozland, the other way round and this time rebadge them as Holden Monaro. What a crazy world this is today ... but thats the way of the world!

Just read latest mag I ordered from US that the Dodge Barracuda R/T 1970 convertible model in it's 100% original factory condition can now fetch up to USD500K, and apparently these cars only change hands between the rich and super-rich. Gosh!!!

MTek1318, interesting new post you brought up here mate. Keep on Cruizin'
