im new in photography and i dont have any group to join for an outing. im thinking of doing this for a part time job, see if i can make a career of it. is there anyone here that i can learn from?currently i only have an old canon 30D and a fix 50mm lens. planning to learn and get something out of it...

photomalaysia is a good place to learn for starter while 500px & Deviantart is a good reference to see professional's work of art...here, errrrrrr very hard to learn lah since this is BMW forum not photography...

thing is, when i went to that kinda forum, everyone is too good d, they dont really entertain newbie like me. saja2 post kat sini kalau2 anyone here has same hobby other than cars ^_^

If you are new, then join flickr. Its free and has all levels of photogs there. Join some groups - they have beemer groups there - share some pics and see how your groupmates respond. You can also observe and learn from the work of pro level photogs.

Career wise, the photography market has become very diluted already. Too many people are using DSLRs these days. You can observe on weekends where you can find many tudung chicks carrying the latest DSLRs and snapping all things exciting. And modern photo editing software can make even the clumsiest photographer create semi-pro or even pro-level shots if they are lucky with their timing.

So unless you have an exceptional artistic talent, or access to top level models and celebs or have a bunch of noisy influential people touting your work all the time, it is best to keep photography as a hobby.

I have a Nikon FM2 sitting in my store somewhere. It's a classic piece. Bought it during my college time some 20 years ago. Fully manual with film. Still remember have to insert film and close the back cover and pull the shutter level to load every shot before pressing the shutter button to take a pic. And after the last shot, comes the interesting part to unwind the film back into its casing before opening the back cover to take out the film to the photo shop.

Hi bro,

My inspiration begin from the following quote. "Photography is all about creating an image with light. May it be old or new camera or techniques of mix medium ie photo+canvas+oil painting or BW Photo+charcoal on canvas or tree bark. It is your style and if someone else find it fascinating but can't create it themselves they will buy it from you."

My favourite camera and lens is Nikon D7000 and 18-200 VR as it is a go anywhere camera. D4 or D800 with those prime lens such as 70-200 are simply too heavy for my ill back but they produce amazing results on the hand of the pro. What I try to say is keep to the camera you have till you need a new camera.

Am organising a charity class with the help of a pro commercial photographer to share photography skill to less fortunate children. Will keep you posted if you are interested.

Am not a pro photographer and just an amateur. There are many Pros in this group but they remain humble and low profile.
