Overheat - Where to do compression test?

Wifey drove my 530i until overheat and stalled the engine. Barely recovered from engine transplant 2 yrs ago and hope do not have to dig deep into my bank account for another M54 transplant. I read that a full compression test can reveal if there is a blown head gasket, cracked head or block. Where can I do this test...if any sifu here can help. I stay in Kota Dsara. Tq

Hopefully, the engine stopped due to the protection system kicking in when the engine sensed the rising temperature.
If so, that would be good news. Do update us after the test.

Been using the car since that fateful day. It's a burst hose at the bottom of the coolant expansion tank. So far so good. Don't detect any unwanted noise, harshness of rise of temperature. Power is also still there. But i still wanna go for that test. Will update you all. Many thanks again. Actually, the car already has a bit of coolant loss before the burst/overheat incident. Did check but couldn't find a leakage. So i decided to live with it by just checking the coolant level every 2-3 days and top up whenever required (about 1 cup of water every time).

Saw in internet the use of a dye and UV torchlight to detect leakage in the cooling system. We put the dye in the coolant and run the car until optimum temperature (20 mins). Then jack the car up on a ramp and use the UV torch. The dye and UV torch will show leakages if present. Anyone have comments on this? Many thanks.

No need to do this. Just clean all the visible stain (white) at all the hose and cooling system. Run a few days and observe for new white stain.

If you need to top up every few days, a pressure test from the radiator will be able to show where the leak is.

My method of check leak is quite simple. I fill the radiator until it is overflow. Close the radiator with the cap and run the engine for about
10 minutes. Off the engine and then check for leak. reason, when water expand, it will pressurised and leak thro the hose.
 
Hi Bro. Azan. If you keep topping up with water all the time, eventually you engine is coolant free and that will damage yr engine over time even though you don't see temperature rising. My recently kaput engine had bad internal corrosion and almost to the piston. My mechanic says this is because of poor maintenance, no coolant. When I bought the car, I had to top up a litre a week. Engine died 3 months after buying. Had the engine replaced. You may watch the water level but you don't know what's happening in the engine.

Been a while. Thanks to all sifus here for the tips and advise. Found the issue...it was a leak at the hose behind the water pump area. You cannot see this hose unless you remove the throttle body as it is actually underneath it. This hose channels hot coolant into the heater core unit in the cabin for heating purpose. Usually, this system is blanked off on our tropical car. The hose is a hard plastic pipe connected to the engine block/cylinder head.

Now no more coolant loss..so the worry about blown head gasket is gone. Phewww....
 
Don't blank off or bypass that hose. You will lose control of your temperature settings.

Our heating/air cond system relies on the mixture of hot/cold air to get the desired temperature.

If you blank off that hose, its Arctic mode all the time in your car. The only thing you can control then in blower speed.
 
I think the part that is blanked off is the part coming back from the firewall i.e. a section of the rubber hose that is underneath the airbox/cleaner. I stil have all the controls of the HVAC system i.e. temperature controls and the fan speed. Thanks for the reminder bro Haywire. Love your style 37 wheels....
