The Curve, Kota Damansara, Selangor, MalaysiaCanon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USMI always wanted to try something like this and I did. It wasn't easy. But first, I would like to thank all the people who helped me out on this project. I'd like to thank my friends, and that crazy driver that nearly killed me during this shoot and my colleague whom helped me out on the digital imaging section.I was supposedly to meet up with my friends during lunch time, but coincidently I was busy setting up my art piece at an exhibition and couldn't go no where. I was pretty disappointed that day. Not because I couldn;t hang out with my friends, but it was the only day that I could shoot this car. The Volvo belongs to a friend of mine who studies in another state, and only comes home once in a while. And so far off, she told me this was the last time she could drive this car, since she crashed the other S40, same model in brown. Her entire family loves Volvo, they have all the series. It's amazing, I've never came across anyone who loves Volvo so much.So by the time I could meet up with them, it was about 6-7 plus at the evening and the light really failed my camera and I have no choice but to try something ground breaking. So I suggested to them about a night scene and soon I got an idea to shoot it at a bright car park near the place we all hanged out.The shoot was pretty kicky, and we didnt ride as smooth as the BMW shoot. It was very difficult as the tunnels aren't as far as roads could be and there were humps and bumps every 50 meters. We drove around for about 15-20 minutes, since everyone was so inpatient. Hmm...But anyways, I can't ask for more since I am asking for a good favour from them. What really upsets me about this shot is that, the reflection is terrible and I forget to cover it up, I kind of hated the flare created by the beams. Will take note during my next shot.

You guys are really good at digital stuff. I use a Nikon D200 with 17-55 F2.8 and 80-200 f2.8 but I don't think I digital stuff is for me. Drives me crazy with the editing. I am back to the old school with Leica M6, shooting slides with Ektachrome E100VS and E100SW. Good job couleur.

Actually, it really depends what you are looking for, you can't side both ways. If you are good in film, then you are good in it. You can't mix both, actually... you can, but you wont go too far ahead.

I have chosen to be and work as a commercial photographer, so everything I shoot has a reason for my future and career. But since you prefer Leica, and by means a M6 doesn't come cheap, so I am pretty sure you would love to work with film rather then digital. Plus, films are more classic and more over towards journalism. Which is totally different from commercials and the digital edge. :)

Anything red is always pretty damn sexyliciousz to me... be it Ferrari, Bentley or BMW... but I neva realized a Volvo wud look this good until I saw this kicky pix of yours....

Honestly it looks awesome... this is one hell of a shot... it looks lilke Will Smith being chased by a truck filled with i-robotz... remember dat breathe-taking scene?

So.. hell yeah... u got my vote on "Not a BMW, but an exciting red car".

KUDOS...

I come across this annoying problem that makes me revert to film. After shooting some RAW images and a few editing, I find that it takes ages for the computer to finish its job. I don't know. Maybe my computer is too slow or the file is just too big for the computer to handle. The film photographer was trained to get it right the first time. If unsure, use bracketing. Then, my job is over. I just wish that editing can be a little bit faster. That's all.

You can't go any faster, it this or that. One or Two. No more three or six.

You can edit films in darkroom, so you can edit digital files in photoshop.

I'm running on Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0Ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 128MB Nvidia in Windows Vista.... pretty much standard.

But if you are using XP, it would be so much faster.

Your RAW image is about 16-19megabytes each when editing on Adobe it grew to 300megabytes easy. I also notice you are running your adobe on a notebook, therefore the speed is limited to the harddisk speed and ram. If possible filled your notebook with 4giga of rams and upgrade your harddisk to performance notebook harddisk such as the WD 320G SATAII with 3giga transfer rate.

If you have a PC, I suggest the following setup if budget is average..

My current setup is as follows and it work quite well for me.. sometime faster then the apple.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6, Intel X48 Express chipset
CPU : Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E8190
RAM : Corsair CM2X2048-6400C4, 2 x 2 GB, 4-4-4-12.
Harddisk : 2 x WD1500AHFD (WD Raptor® X SATA Hard Drives
150 GB, 1.5 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 10,000 RPM) on RAID
3G VGA :Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB DDR3
Power supply : Cooler Master RS-A00-EMBA.

I will upgrade at the end of the year. I edit my pictures on a calibrated 22 inch display. And use a bluetooth mouse and key board... all plug into my lappy.

It doesn't go up to 300MB. The most is about 200MB and below when I am editing it with TIFF 16 bit and saved it in PSD file format. But now i'm only saving 8 bits, most recommended of course.

I just edited a 21mps size photo, doesn't seem to lag at all.
