Dear Commitee, Well, im yet to be official and i hangout here almost the whole day! But i guess i will have to accept the new changes. I want to move on!!It would be great if someone could put it down in DETAIL on the restrictions imposed like which are the area's, topic's, can or cannot sell, posts threads, etc, that forummers can access unless official. So that I dont have to click to find out that im restricted!! I can just stay on area's that are allowed. I hope that this thread will also be a little usefull to newbies.:) Cheers...

I visit this website almost everyday. I 've been doing so for quite some time. It is almost instinctive when i turn on the PC.

Being in Penang and with my committmentsI dont really see myself participating in the Official club itself.

If eventually I am barred from visiting the forum bcos I'm not an officilal member , I would be very sad but that itself is not going to make me sign up as an Official Member.

I personally think that for this forum to be alive, access to the forums should remain open to all. If not the reality is that the forum itself will eventually suffer a slow and painful death.

The forum should be used as a tool to attract the public to the Official Club and once the a person is interested he can always regiter as an official member.

A lot of foreign clubs are like that. Even BMW club uk forum is free.

The whole idea of the forum should be to share the joy of owning the UDM with as many people as possible.

As for the cost of upkeep of the website I'm sure with the publicity the forum gets there will me more hits and more sponsorship.

If there still is a shortage of funds, a donation drive can be launched and I for one am willing to donate towards such a fund.

Guys the important thing is dont kill the forum. If you restrict access it is eventually going to kill the forum and this inviariably will affect the club itself.

So pls keep the forum open to all.

Thanks

I do share ur views. Just hoping for the best!!

cheers...

Thank you for you views, it will definetely be taken into consideration but there is only so much we can do.

As for the sites that will be open to all , we are still in the midst of disscussing it thoroughly so that we can keep some of you happy and still not offend the Official Members but as at this current moment as you all already know 'Tech & performance' is now only available to official members.

We thank you for your dedication to this site and that you will change your mind in the future and be an Official member as we really need dedicated people like you to be part of this Club.

i know..u guys testing to see if the restricted forum will be active without public participation.. well?

how many official members are there anyway? is there 100 ppl who pay?

i like the forum and it would be a shame if i can no longer contribute.
i'm not into the gatherings although I think it's great that some of you get together for car-talk.
for me, being here is a pow wow already.. I share my experiences and hope to get info so that it's easier for me to do things pertaining to my cars.
i think restricting the site would only help fuel other BMW related sites.. don't you think?

aiyah. still going round and round one.

just join lar.

why?? cant pay or wun pay? anyway, its your choice. goodies given away free always is while stocks last. when its gone, its time to pay if you want it. else, you can stamp your feet and cry all you want. its time to segregate the "haves" and the "have-nots". people dun really care about the "wan" or "dun-wans" now that the club is registered wid da ROS liao.

end of the day, the site belongs to the registered club. the club and it members will choose how they wud like to manage (read: restrict/allow access) this facility. as long as you are not a member (ha ha ha ha ha!! like me...:p) we are GUESTS(!). so, please behave like one. can or not ahhh....?

Guru

on the contrary this forum was set up to test market to gauge the feasibility of setting up BMW Club Malaysia, the problem was we let it run too long and everybody has now assumed that this forum is the club. If you have not noticed we are now only on a recruitment drive inviting members to join this Club, and dedicated people like you to the BMW brand should hop on and take it as a challenge to be one of the pioneer members to bring this club to greater heights.
A club whether it started with 10 or 20 is immaterial, like anyhing it has to start somewhere and grow from strenght to strenght. Do you think the Rotary Club started with 6000 people? It probably started with 10 and grew from there.
As a matter of fact this site only started with a handful of people but see where it is now, bcos it is free?there are also millions of other free sites, why the need to come here?

Maybe this will give a clearer picture to all:

We are going to be BMW Club Malaysia and www.bmwclubmalaysia.com is the website address for BMW Club Malaysia and since we do not have a club house yet, this addresss www.bmwclubmalaysia.com will be the clubhouse for the moment, as in any club all guest are wellcome, the difference is the guest are restricted to certain facilities compared to a member who has paid his share for the use of the facilities.
