Newbies-getting F30 soon

Hi otai2, taikor, taikarcher,

I am thinking of getting F30 either 316i or 320i. Need to seek your ans to some of my doubts.

1. Anti-theft.
Understand that F30 does not come with alarm. That means when someone break your window or steal your car from your carpark, there will be no alarm that will go off? Correct?

2. How many of the owners here actually purchased RM5.9k Vehicle tracking & recovery with safety upgrade?
SA cant explain. :(

3. Reverse camera
Anyway we can include this as optional at BWM dealers?
SA said no, another SA say possible...(just brief chat-not sure if he is true or not)

4. Getting after market alarm will void the warranty right?

5. When is the LCI coming btw...

5.1. Lastly, any1 knw any super good offer?

Hello bro here are my 2 cents on your questions:

1. Yes that is correct unfortunately...

2. Not a lot but there is...you can opt to install 3rd party GPS tracking but BMW will void your warranty so you have only one choice...

3. F30 reverse camera is coming but not so soon. Price is RM3.5k w/o installation and it should not cross RM4.5k w/ installation after asking Ingress...

4. Yes is correct so you can only install their GPS tracking device but my advise is park at safe places and your car will be all right based on my experience after owning one for more than a year with no issues...touch wood.

5. Nope but you can try AB....they are known to give good sales offers but their after sales suck...you can also try Quill or Wearnes.

If I may add, if you plan to stick to this car for long I suggest to go for the 320i Sport Edition @ RM259k or go for a pre-reg 328i M-Sport going around RM260k++ Their extra goodies and extra power will increase your satisfaction haha. I own a 316i and I already feeling the lag of power but if you don't like to rempit and you do not care for the extra goodies then the 316i will be good...save the extra moolah for reno or a family trip will be better.

Thanks for reply... hehe inwas tempted to consider f30 in particular 316i is bcos of small engine cc...translate to cheaper road tax, lower FC ...hehe may be many UDM owner will not agree on saving this few bucks...but i m happy with 316i performance so far after test driving few times at different dealers..haha..
of cos 320i is more powerful.
Another more imp thing is me kiamsiap dont wanna take out add duit to buy 320i haha...

Seancorr berapa lama u reckon is considered keeping d car long enough to get higher range?

1. Bila LCI coming?
Hehe.. if LCI come with 3 cylinder 1.5...i will consider also.... super kiamsiap hor?

2. Bila reverse camera coming?
 
You can get BimmerCoder to install the reverse camera for you for a fraction of what the dealers want. It's OEM plug and play and come with the full dynamic parking lines. He quoted 2250 for it.

Pls don't ask silly questions about warranty being void etc bcos it's obviously would. But since it's a plug and play component, it should be a no brainer installation process. Also, he did mentioned it's easily reversible if needed which means you could also easily have it removed
 
Last time I ask my SA, she said F30 can add reverse camera but only for 328i because of the different in the idrive system.

Yesterday- one SA told me NO for all F30. They received information from BMW malaysia on the add on kit but....no other information given to them already..

That's what I was thinking to when I bought my 316i but when I finally own it...hmmm need more power and toys inside but that's just me la. Some people will be happy enough with its power and kit list since its still a UDM and they just need a better car to travel from point A to B. How long I'd keep mine? Well it depends on how little trouble this car will give me over the years. My two previous cars were sold under 3 years coz I was fed-up with its various problems but I'd keep this UDM until at least the next gen 3 Series is out if possible. Unlike some people, my moolah does not grow on trees so I have to farm for it ahaha.

1. Not so soon...optimistic also late 2015 else in 2016...well the 1.5l engine has the same output as the 1,6l engine now so why not? More efficient too...

2. Well they have the info and the price but they reckon next year. Once the SM of Quill has it he will call me to arrange for installation.

Yeah that's true, its meant for all F30s according to my dealer's after sales head...

Powerlah! SM will arrange for you:) btw.. simple question. My understanding is that BSRI is a deal given by BMW msia right? Hence, dealers are more than happy to do BSRI work for you (occasionally claim for "warranty" using BSRI after the 2 years manufacturer warranty) as they will charge back to BMW malaysia. Correct me bro. tq

Nothing wan lah as long you treat people nicely with respect they will give you proper respect in return.

BSRI comes with every new BMW for a period of 3 years and during promotions dealers can extend it to 5 to drive their sales and yes "warranty" might be covered after the 2 year manufacturer's warranty but it really depends on the issue @ the discretion of BMW Malaysia but honestly I'd rather have full manufacturer's warranty and MBM / Audi Malaysia is showing the proper way by giving 4 years so I don't need to fight for my rights whenever something break's down prematurely. Two years warranty is below our local industry standard....its comparable to a motorcycle warranty!
 
I've had the 316i as a courtesy car when I had to send my new f10 in to troubleshoot some vibration issues.

I was pleasantly surprised by how nippy this puny 16i engine is. Yes, one would have to work the revs to get the oomph but in typical BMW tradition, the engine was willing, Rev happy and rather responsive. It didn't really felt underpowered. Also, it handles like a BMW 3 should

Having said that, I won't pay a new car price for the 316i (where it may come close to a pre reg or pre owned 320i, I'll rather get that instead) but if one can get a good deal for a pre owned 316i, it makes a lot of sense for the young exec to make their first inroads into the UDM. The Mazda 6 or accord couldn't give you even half that driving pleasure
 
hi dato datin, tan sri and puan sri.

Will be getting my 320i soon, my first UDM.

Can't belief that it does not have an alarm system even my 7 months old C200 has an alarm, but was lost to car jacker, Well not to worry about losing it, be sure to insure it at agreed value clause. it if is lost then u get full insured value.

Really interested in getting the reverse camera, really a useful tools. but since it will void warranty will get it after 2 years when the warranty expires.

Can anyone share their experience in installing the reverse camera? Whats the best deal in town ? are video quality good ?
