I heard that one can go to any JPJ office (eg in KL) to bid or tender for a registration number of a different state (eg in Pahang). Is it true? Anyone has done it and what are the procedures? How do we know when the tender will be open and whether my bid is successful or not? Please advise.

All JPJ's only advertise what are the current number that is being tendered in all the other states. You have to go to that particular state HQ to tender the number you want or being giving it to a runner.I recently tendered a number from Perak, so I had to go to Ipoh to get it done since KL/Selangor informed me I cant register the car here...cheers

The procedure is pretty simple. Just need to find out which alphabets are up for tender, buy a bank draft (I remember it was RM200 or 10% if tender price, whichever is higher) and submit. You will be notified by post, or you can go to JPJ can see the list.

depends on what number..minimum for popular numbers is RM300 and have to pay bank draft/wang pos of 50% during tender stage or pay the full amount.

Thanks, guys. It looks like it is quite a hassle to tender for an outstation number plate, particularly that from a state (in my case, Pahang) which is quite a distance away from where we are currently located. Sigh.... in these technological day and age, JPJs in every state still cannot link to each other!

If i were to engage a "runner", how much would his/her fee be and do you have anyone to recommend?

hey,
In your case I advise you to engage a runner from other state (Pahang)...
I bought my E60 from PJ but I wanted a Pahang number on my car (personal reason) and it took me quite a long time to get it done :D worth the wait if you really like the number. You can ask the car agent about it. maybe they know someone :top:

I am from Penang and i just won a tender bid for BKT.
It is very simple. You can do it in any of the state JPJ office. If any officer tells you you cant do it, take down their names and send to the Pengarah (all state Pengarah emails are available in the web). I am tired of officers cohorting with runners.
Below is the link to the latest registration number. All you need is to call the state JPJ to enquire when is the opening date for tender on your desired number and you can download the MV10 form from JPJ website.
Good luck.

Thanks, vteoh... Now, that's a refreshing news. So, it is true then that we can tender numbers from any state without physically being in that state.

Assuming the particular series of alphabets in Pahang is opened for tender, I just fill up MV10 and submit to JPJ in KL with my bankdraft and wait for them to inform on the status of my bid? Any other procudure that I missed out?

Yes. You can submit your MV10 form to any of the state JPJ office and they are responsible to post all the tender bids to the respective state JPJ office (do not post it yourself as it is stated in the form proof of posting is not proof of delivery). Leave the ball at their court.
ALso, ensure you are submitting the latest MV10 form.
Below are my corresponding emails with JPJ Selangor.

if you need more details or need me to virtually guide you, PM me your contact and we can work offline.
Bottomline is you DO NOT need to engage a runner which will quote you a ridiculously high price.
FYI, i got the 2digit number that i wanted at a fraction of the price quoted by a selangor runner.
There are many professional and honest officers in JPJ. You will be impressed the level of support they can render (email replies within hours, provide you comprehensive and accurate information etc).

of course there is no free lunch. :)
if you need more info from my side (latest MV10 forms, what is the right amount to submit, tender tips etc), i humbly request you donate RM50 on my name to any orphange of your choice and post me the receipt. Deal?
Hey....RM50 is a superb deal. As in my case, i was quoted RM13k for the 2digit number that i wanted and i got it at less than 40% of the quoted price (imagine how much profit the runner could have made).

this must be recent. 3 years ago, I had to get two runners to do it. One for Wilayah and one for Perak as it was in interchange (new num to registered car).
What about Puspakom? Just once right?

i believe this process is pretty new as i was the first one from penang to go thru this process (i even have to work with the registration dept head in penang to ensure this process is implemented and open to all future bidders). Securing of boxes, log book, coordinations with respective state JPJ etc.

as on your 2nd question Puspakom, i have yet to find out.

should be a very new system as i did the same just last month, as i needed one runner for perak and one runner for wilayah..was so hassle to find a responsible runner, so took a day off and got it all done in a day...

if you gonna do interchange and trasfer name at the same time, u have to ask for 2 Puspakom inspection form which is B2 and B5 form and yes it can be done in any Puspakom center..

So you registered the BKT number in penang state JPJ as well or you had to do it in Selangor?

i submitted the tender bid in Penang, made the payment in Penang and registered it in Penang.
Bottomline, i did everything in Penang.
The only time i will ever step into JPJ Selangor is to pass a box of chocolate to the dept head whom helped me with all these to show my appreciation for her professionalism and help.

hi all, so how much is the fees involved if we were to transfer a new number to a registered car?
