Hi guys,Wanna ask anyone out there that have changed engine in an E34 b4? My E34's heart is gonna give out soon and i'm planning to do a conversion. Any ideas which engine to be put in? My mech gave me some ideas but i'm not sure yet.....i wanna ask you guys for advice first. He told me to put Nissan Skyline RB20 or Toyota 1JZ in my car. Other choices was E34 525i or E39 520i or 525i. But i think the BMW engines are expensive. How about the JPJ procedure? I dont want auto. I prefer manual and my E34 520i is a manual. Its underpowered and i want something with more pickup and torque. Any ideas guys?

rb26dett is the best i think but will cost u... the rb20det and rb25det cost less...

Can i just change the engine block & piston?? can use back the ECU??

fi ur car now is is m20b20 manual ......easier and cheapest way is to put in the M20b25.......just need the engine kosong,ecu,intake monifold,afm and rear axle ....rest of ur parts can remain......u getting about 170hp wit manual tranny shold be okey

do i need the gearbox? or can i use back my old gearbox? another suggestion my mech said was to send to a bm specialist mech to redo my old engine.

i also dunno now.....headache man.

i knew of a guy who had a 2JZ in his E34. Not sure wat boost he's running but its damn fast.

He's a chili red E34 wif racing stripes ala-Nikita.

the whole reason you will need the half car is to convert all into the current car to work.. hence the complete parts to make perform like it was supposed to be..

the 525 half cut i said is cheap and the mileage is just hit the 100km mark..i drove it before it was cut and brought from HongKong..the price is reasonable and the cost of labour is about RM2500.00 to transfer it. the half car is complete. the old box can't be used.. the ZF box is a Gem..:love:

do it in KL.. there's a lot of choice's of Mech's to convert...

i agree, the ZF 5 speeder box is such a marvel. Not the best pickup comparing to the 4 speeder, but its economy and high end cruising speed is awesome.

u might wanna look out if that half cut comes wif a Jap spec ECU. Speed is limited to 180km/h.

If we buy the halfcut that E34 M50b25 with 5 pseed ZF autobox, n we share the cost

E34 M20b20 convertion to M50b25, ok no problem, i can use back manual gear box right?

Then we need to find out, can his E36 using the halfcut 5 pseed ZF auto gearbox? anything need to change?

Yo. Why bother at rm8k for an engine, when u can just get a 525 M50 at just over rm20k+. I just traded in my e34 525 M50 at rm25k for a newer e39 525 02/03. Aside from the newer chassis and comfort suspension of e39, I felt e34 pick-up to be better, probably due to the gear-ratio. I'm probably used to the e34, cos driven it for so long. For all I know its just psychology that e34 feels faster, cos the e39 didn't break a sweat.

You may end up paying more in getting other things replaced and also labour cost by replacing the engine, not to mention the time and money spend in doing so. Go change for a newer car. Unless you are those who gian upgrade and mod.
