"new" E34 owner !!

Hi All...just to highlight I got my first ever UDM 520i (M) 24 V..I must say making thetransistion from Jap to Conti..especially with a BMW is ...however have a few 'issues' with the car..most have been discussed in the forums..1)No door 'open' indication on the instruments (does the E34 have one?)2)Clutch adjustment...is there one ?(my pedal had to be released 'full almost' for the car to move)3)Unable to see on the 'data' plate the type of axle/diff or other details like engine model etc.(or am i looking in the wrong place)4)Rack&Pinion power steer iso Box type (do later models E34 come with R/P?)Appreciate any tips and advice for the 'E34newbie'.Cheers allDom

I think only the last batch E34 (1995/1996) has this module.

XXX and MagicFox can advise you on this as theirs are also manual E34.

BMW doesn't have this. You can get all these data by checking your VIN number on the ETK.

As for the diff, there is a plate at the diff housing with a number such as "3.91" or "4.15" which indicates the ratio.

4)Rack&Pinion power steer is Box type (do later models E34 come with R/P?)

All E34 come with steering box, even the M5 coz I researched into retrofitting M5 steering into my E34 and found it's also a steering box with the same ratio.

Appreciate any tips and advice for the 'E34newbie'.

All questions are answer by osflanker ..........Just can advice on question 2.....u cant adjust the clucth like japanese car...BUT u can add on something to reduce the distance........

magicfox sold his manual e34 already. .. but about the clutch, it's quite "high" if this is your first manual bimmer, but you'll get used to it after a while...

and i've driven manual e30, e34, and e36 before, their clutch is also "high" like the e34.

and.. congratulations on your ride.. it's a nice car.. enjoy it.. and get a lsd if you wanna have more fun........

my ex-e34 is 1993 M50 manual. it came with a 3.45 ratio, and i fitted a 3.91 first and i didn't like it. and i fitted a 3.67 after that. I sold my car to another forummer....

yolk... my LSD rear diff gone with the car .. you find zoggee if you want another one....

cressidom.... ask yolk if you could have a ride in his car.. better yet.. ask for a test drive... and you shall know the difference between 3.45 and 3.67....

I only need to add a K&N filter,Lightened flywheel and later an LSD.

Right now it needs a paint job.

bro, you might want to consider BMC instead of K&N...
