New BMW turbo engine?

Has anyone read through the details of the new 5-Series GT? It seems the 535i is still powered by a 3.0 liter turbo but it now has Valvetronic and uses a single twin scroll turbo instead of twin turbochargers. Power and torque is similiar to the twin turbo engine but 400Nm peak torque kicks in 1000rpm earlier at 1200rpm. Is this a variation of the N54 (er... N54TU???) or something new... an N55 maybe?

The 5-series GT is cool, panoramic roof and should give The Merc R-Class a run for their money.

The same article also talk about BMW is working on a 1.3 and 1.8 turbo for its 1 and 3 series.. :smokin:

I am not sure about the smaller engines... those can be considered rumours for now. But what I'm really interested in is this new engine! I love reading about the tech BMW packs into their engines...

N55, supposedly the same twin scroll turbo used for the 4.4 twin turbo

Yup, d N55 is using twin scroll turbo. wondering how it will perform. n will they b sludges also.... hmm~
