hi,

my e36 318 converted 2.0 single vanos was happened engine died while waiting for traffic light recently. car can be start again immediately only with help on pressing the accelerator pedal.
sent to workshop to check today and suspect air flow problem. any advice? and how much will cost for the air flow sensor?

Err get a workshop who knows how to read the data and sensors correctly. what is the basis of suspecting the airflow sensor?

Workshop just mentioned suspected air flow sensor only. Or what the symptom of air flow sensor kong?

idling will be bad if AFM gives way, engine will vibrate like crazy

yup, car did happened few times not stable idling during traffic but don't feel engine was serious vibrate.

Check your idle control valve and check your vanos ... do a diagnostic check and see what error comes out.

it's your ECU ....since it's a 2.0 converted ..

U can try unplug the maf sensor and see how the car drives.

so far ride go back to normal after changed a used air flow sensor on 11/4/2014
