Hi guys, my first entry in BMWClub Malaysia. :eek:Hope you guys can guide me with good tips and advice moving forward. My Machine: E90 320 Yr 2005 Chasis: KX 18576 Problem: 1)Check Engine Sign with intermittent low power speed i.e. 40-50km..although with high acceleration speed. 2) Consumption of engine oil with light white smoke. suspect oil seal/valve seal I have brought to my foremen in kelana jaya; checked and advised replacement required for the below item;1) Actuator [VVTI Motor]2) Eccentric Shaft Sensor 3) Oil/ Valve SealWith the above replacement, required further teaching & learning stuff to ensure engine with gear box are communicating properly. I haven't fix the car with the above replacement as wanted to ask for several opinon/advice before proceed to do so.Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks/

1. Mileage?

2. Average oil change interval?

3. Use what engine oil?

Usually CCV (crank case ventilator) due at 100k km. I would replace the CCV first.

1. that culprit causes white smoke, engine to choke and loss of engine oil.

2. That's the cheapest part compare to others on your list.

What's the price of your item 1, 2 & 3? All are accessible once valve/rocker cover is removed. So can save labor. Haven't count the rocker cover gasket.

Item 1 is the CCV, no need to open rocker cover but need to open intake manifold because it's mounted underneath the intake manifold.

If you decided to replace the eccentric sensor and valvetronic motor, can give me the used parts? So I can use it as emergency spares.. :4:

U see the lower left part in the pic? *hint.. :32::65:

Hi AB,

My car also been recommended for a valve seal repair. This is due to the present of white smoke when idle.Could you advise me the different between problem derived from CCV compared to valve seal?
Since based on your advise, the symptom is quite similar. White smoke and high engine oil consumption.

I seriously have no idea. The CCV since is a cheaper fix, should be replaced first. I'm suspecting a failed CCV causes valve seals leakage.

Change oil interval between 8k to 10k since I'm on BMW LL grade oil. Not sure what cause this, but mileage is already 142k. High time...

142k km is not high bro. BMW engine can last long

Just an update:

Just notice my late 2007 E90 N46 no CCV, the valve cover breather hose fed directly back into the intake manifold.

and no return hose going back to the oil sump..

Compare to the 2006 or early 2007 model:
