My e34 smoke by a standard PROTON PERSONA SE

Was overtaken by a smart-for-2 in NPE yesterday. I was at 80kph on middle lane, when he overtakes me, was very close to my car...fxxx. Seem like complained to me I was driving too slow.

I had to smile when I saw this thread....I got smoked by a Proton Saga from standstill at traffic light!! Yes yes, M50b20 engine, this was at midnight and I wanted to have some fun...the Saga smoked me from standstill but from 60km/h onwards I started to rapidly catch up but had to back off as there was another traffic light in front!!

This is Malaysia....why have a Lambo or some superfast car....you can't even show off the speed. Rather have a car that makes the Protons and Peroduas look like a toy car next to yours while standing still....

NPE banyak. Sometimes culprits also driving stock-standard Myvis and Vios Dugong.

darmmm me too got smoked by a pesona at 90 km/h ...but the driver of the pesona did not notice the speed trap 50m ahead of him ..the pesona driver was travelling somewhere around 120 kmh ,....lajuuu tuuu ..

By ur smarter by saving Rm300 tickets. BMW is not bout speed. Its more of the handling & feel of Ultimate Driving Machine

Travelling up and down KL - SG in my E90 320 (mapped by BVO somemore). Many times kena pau by Persona, Civic, Neo, Myvi (yes) .. but the classic one .. Gen 2 - orange color WMM xxxx plate. I was doing 200 kmh+ - and he took off like i was not there ...

Yeah Subang area. I actually stay in the apartment next to Mesiniaga! And yeah the sounds are freakin annoying sometimes...when I'm asleep at night!! :motz:

Aiya, the other day i was sitting in one E90 320, also kena titik by Persona. Normal la, no need to worry.

But we tapao the fella at the next sweeper, our cars are made for throttling in the sweeper, theirs not ..

Its cheaper to make cars that can go fast on the straight but it takes more than double the effort and cost to build a car that can maintain throttling in and out of sweepers. Now that I call priceless! and that's why we are here..

Very sure .. I drove my sis Gen 2 at 200 kmh at LEKAS hiway - stock standard ..
Not bad really - quite stable

Haha. Kinda annoying that the noise is getting worse lately. Sometimes the same night, I can still hear cars racing past, not once, but sometimes 5-6 times the same night. Seems like the cops aren't doing anything there. Guess the Wajas can't even catch them. :stupid:

Damn kau annoying. Early morning can differentiate one, sometimes seen Lambos or Porsches giving it the beans along that stretch, but at night, definitely boy racers in the Protons and what-nots. :motz:

soory all, a little bit late reply in my own post....working shift lah...so its normal lah me driving an e34 520i cannot kejar that persona se at pickup and topspeed, i thought my car having a major engine problem... :71: but my car have few problem...that make me pening kepala also.....first, when the car warmed up, the idle will go down, like a motoboat idle, second, there a rough noise from the engine, but when i step on the clutch, the sound disappear, i let go the cluth, the sound come again.... any info??????????

1. Sounds like clogged ICV or vacuum leak.
2. Sounds like typical Getrag rattle.
3. Maybe make a new thread about problems, can get more response.

Had a E34 M20 520i manual for a while before. Pickup so so only.. top end can get to 215kph on the highway... fuel consumption a lttle too high for city driving, so didn't keep..

Ramzee, which engine is your 520i? M20 or M50?

The rough noise should be the gearbox clatter... try pushing the gear lever toward 1st gear (but not hard enuf to go in gear) without clutching in, the noise would go away too... Noise is caused by freeplay inside the gearbox...
