anybody help? i cheched my e36 325i VIN on http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi but shown my model is e30. really confused....

myFrankie, yes mine (Auto Bavaria CKD 1994 E36 325i(M)) doesn't work too, I think Auto Bavaria used their own series. My VIN is AC58xxx, it showed up as an E30 too in the search.

By the way, I saw an old half cut E36 318i from Japan at my local workshop a few weeks back, I took note of the VIN and checked online, it came out correctly. Their VIN is really long (you only need the last 7 characters), unlike our shortened version.

All malaysian CKD E36 (not sure about other cars though) VIN are not in the BMW database because the guy in charge at auto bavaria was playing solitaire hardcore.... The only way to check your CKD VIN is through the BMW TIS program.

nowhere to download from as far as I know. your best bet is to get a copy from frankie or buy from ebay...

How big is the size of the BMW TIS software? Can be sent by email? What does the software do by the way, apart from translating VINs? Frankie, pls send me a copy if it's small enough!

It's about 1.4 gigs. It has all the tech articles & repair info for all bmw, bmw mini & motorcycles.
