I was away for work for the whole of last week and came back to find a pool of oil under the car :(. Examined it and it looks like PS/ATF fluid to me, possibly from the power steering system. Last time the same thing happened where I did not drive the car for a while and the PS hoses sprung a leak and I had to get them replaced. Since I got back, I've been driving the car daily and surprisingly the leaking has stopped?!! I'll still have to go get the car checked up as I dont wanna have the PS pump go KO on my due to low fluid, which will cost me an arm and leg. Anyway, any of you ever experience leaving your car idle for long periods of time to come back to a leaky car?

I had my PS hoses and clips changed recently as a precaution cos my mekanik says it's prone to wear and tear. I think it leaks no matter you drive or not, perhaps due to our climate! Better get it checked regularly and replaced for a fraction of the price of a malfunctioning PS. :beaten:

You should let me take it around the block a few times as we're practically neighbours..;)

well, i've seen the new e90 dies the same thing. hmmpp?? what could it be?

I tot you were in OZ land? There's another black E46 320i with TV antenna, on the trunk + 17" BMW M rims and a BMWclub sticker parked a few lots away from mine. Whos arr?

just a silly though from me,
if the car park for a long time then got leakage
so must be the show room car isnt it.
i think mostly its just because of wear and tear.
i should put it as precaution and do mentenance regularly :D

am back for a couple of weeks...aiyah so many beemers parked here lah..loss count of how many e60s around too...hehe.
i'm at mr4

It was just a leaky PS hose. Since the leak stopped after I started driving the car, took it to stuttgart and got them to jack it up and inspect the leak. They tightened the PS hose clip (already quite tight), check fluid lvl and sent me on my way FOC. Not bad svc :)

Just to note, keep driving your BMWs. Keeping idle makes the car go bonkers ..
