Guys,Need some help. I have just changed to 17's and would like to have my ride lowered but not change my shocks(as they are new BOGE std items). I heard that I can get away with a set of Mtech springs. Slightly lowered height, comfortable and also slight increase in handling. I was offered a set for RM450. Can anyone give me some advice on whether I should take it?How much of a drop in ride height am i looking at?joeylow

I would reckon u change to new eibach spring. It will be more sporty outlook and I can say that most of bimmer change to eibach or beilstein for lowering their machine

Yes bro, just change Eibach...same like me hehe. Don't put on some cheap stuff bro, remember one thing. Good thing doesn't comes cheap and cheap thing doesn't comes good..

that's my rules... Either change with a better one, or else why bother want to change it?

hehee...

thanks,
keane

i am on standard boge and eibach pro-kit on 17', look good, but bouncy

Keane,

Mtech springs are BMW original springs on their M-tech version BMs, I doubt Eibachs are better then them other then a lower ride height leh. As I have said, I need a comfortable solution not something stiff or bouncy. I have sat your car it was a bit too stiff for me and the ride height is a problem for me as my housing area has tons of speed bumps, If I needed something like that I would driven my wira to work everyday with TEIN RA coilovers. Furthermore i have checked around and it seems that BOGE or Bilsteins have OE shocks for the M-tech version therefore ride comfort should not be compromised.

I just need to know if anyone here is on the M-Tech springs with OE absorbers...

Hi Joey

I have driven an E46 with std abs but with M Tech Springs. The satisfaction depend on your taste and budget. You want to look sporty with some loss in comfort, then go for Eibach. Vice Versa. My preference, I love the M Tech Springs.

If you decide not to buy that M Tech spring set, pls PM me who is selling. I am interested to buy the set if it is for E46. thanks

Planta,

If you are interested to get a pair too msg me. I am getting it from a half cut shop, according to him he has a few pairs.

Mtech comes standard with the SMG right? I would say its pretty damn good and comfortable, but the ride height doesnt drop enough for the front. The rear drop is low enough.

i'm on m-tec springs running 18's. comfort and performance is great. It came standard on m-sport. approximately 20mm lower than standard ride. eibach,h&r among others are 35mm lower than standard.. so m-tec is kinda like a go-between. $450 is a great price I think..maybe can nego some more? new h&r and Eibach are about $1250 plus another 200-300 for installation and wheel alignment.

Hey guru.. can you post up pic of your ride to show how much drop the springs give? My mtec is a bit high in the front.

18's and stock m-sport springs/shocks

(thinking of blacking out the rim)

My front looks a bit higher than yours.. now i wonder if mine is still mtec at the front. Rear looks abt the same. How to tell if its mtec springs?

go to reputable bmw workshop?

is your car m-sport spec?..sport seat, sport steering, 3 headrest at the back, bodykit, m-sport rims etc..

mine is 320i msport running on 18". front is a bit higher then the picture shown, rear almost the same. i guess mine is the same height as Riezal-R's ride

that's odd- perhaps the shocks or springs have been changed? anyway can always potong the spring to lower it. Contrary to popular belief, potong spring is quite safe if the guy doing it is expert.

Hi Joey, could you pls share the address of the chop shop. Planning to get the Mtech's too for my ride. Thanks in advance.

Stormbringer,

I doubt you can get the same price as me, I know the guy pretty well and I own a workshop myself. Anyway I got the springs from Stuttgart in Taman Mayang, the industrial area near the old Lim Kok Wing. I think normally it will retail for around RM500 - RM600. I have seen some guys on this forum selling it for RM750.
