Meguiars Ultimate compound + swirlx combo

Dear Sifus,I was trying to do a detailing this afternoon...follow the 5 steps... wash, clay,compound, polish, wax...as i'm not as hardcore as KCs, i did not invest so much onto rotary or etc...just using a microfiber pad for the polishing & compound by manually using hand. Using the combo of UC + swirlx, i only manage to reduce the scratches....however, the swirl marks still exist...eventough i've tried to compound UC, swirlx,UC,swirlx..... repeatly... worse...the water marks still visible...so... am wandering whether the bad results was due to this combo is not as effective as M105/205, lack of machines or other reasons...thanx
