Manual Getrag 260/5.....

Hi manual driver 5er,Just for possibility in the future.Nothing wrong with my auto.trans but use to drive manual heavy car before switch to E32.Is all M30 engine car or Getrag 260/... manual will fit E32 730i ?Anybody know who right guy to talk with ? 535i /nsborne !Thank you :lol:

Mine comes with Getrag 260/6 - the fin model.
naza2 customized his 535 with Getrag 260/2 - dog leg

U can fit (with modifications) Getrag 260/5 to ur engine but I think it is limited to certain torque only. E28 535 uses this gearbox

If u can find the Getrag 260/8 (I think .. meant for M5 3.6) ... it will fit nicely to ur M30.

I am talking abt M30 post '89 model.

Frankly, thse gearbox configuration is very very confusing.

Value info,do you have link so I can read more on this 'confusing" Getrag 260/....? Before I start dig on E28 would try to look into E23 Getrag first.

these box can definitely fit your engine:

getrag 260
getrag 260/5
getrag 260/6

535's gearbox is quite nice. overdrive ratio but bulletproof. given if you can find it.

How do I differ on this getrag model, by their physical look or need to see on gearbox serial no plate itself when visit chop shop ? You have a link for me to browse ....

Hi Ig,

You will need the DRIVE shalf from a E32 manual becuase your auto driveshalf is too long. Do not potong and joint!. Balancing a changed driveshalf is a very tricky thing and only professionals with right equipment should ever attempt!.

No point getting the tranny fitted and alamak, cannot drive the rear wheels!.
Its a serious issue you need to solve.

There are a few shops here in KL that has this 'dynamic balancing'.
I hv tested one .. Not perfect but to me .. acceptable. Cost me RM 700.

It's hard to get a manual long-shaft for E32 7 series here in KL.

yes, I check out in www realoem.com , the long shaft between auto and manual where the different roughly 100 mm.
I'm still digging info about this Getrag 260/5 which on shark version and 260/6 which the right one for e32.
Never know about "dynamic balancing" ? Guess balance something while it move (dynamic) !!

Collect info first .......
