You're missing the rubber boot. I had the same issue on my car when I did a manual conversion few years back. That rubber boot makes a world of difference.

Part no.11 on the diagram. You can order these brand new from Bavarian Auto or whichever BMW part stockist you prefer to go to.

oohh ok.. thanks a lot..
from the diagram it looks like that rubber pirce wont fully cover the hole on the gear console..
anything else that goes uner the gear gaiter?

There's a sponge I believe but I didn't buy the ori one. I just took some normal sponge and chuck inside there. The sponge basically just fills the void and keeps your gator nicely propped up instead of allowing it to sag in the hole.

The rubber boot doesn't look big in the diagram but it fits the hole. In comparison, here's how my shift boot looks like in the realoem.com diagram.

So don't worry, it'll fit.

Manual conversion has made the auto-tilt-down of passenger side mirror not functioning on my E39 anymore. Any bros out there have experience of such kind before?

PDC is also working in a "funny" mode, every reverse gear engagement will turn the PDC on and off.

I mean, under normal condition, without manually pressing PDC button, engage reverse gear, PDC turns on, free gear, re-engage reverse gear, PDC goes off, free gear, re-engage reverse gear again, PDC turns on and so forth...quite annoying actually but so far living with it.

Cheers.

seewai I'm not familiar with E39 manual conversions but it sounds like the wiring isn't done properly on yours. I know paultan has done a manual conversion on his E39 maybe you can private message him to check.
