Hello Guys, Does anybody know where is the location for M43 timing chain tensioner? Is it located outside of the engine like M52? Is it hydraulic tensioner as well like M52? Thanks in advanced for your feedback.

according to ETK, please refer to item 11. it is located inside.

Thanks Jarance,

It think my problem would be with item no. 15. The engine sound like a taxi when rem hit 1000-1500 rpm. Anyway I will get a complete check.

Initially i'm also suspecting the tensioner, but then one mechanic told me its the hydraulic valve lifter that making noise. The tensioner and timing chain seldomly have problems. But if the lifter, it only make sound when engine cold, it will go away after the engine warm. The problem I had, even during engine is warm the sound still there as long as rpm 1000-1500. I still think it's the tensioner.

Bro, what make your mech think it's the tensioner?

if that mechanic told u is hydraulic valve lifter make noise
u can try buy 1 botol valve treatment and put in when u change engine oil.
and try about 1 week, and see noise will be less or not.

your car milage how many already?
more that 100km............

145,000 km already....the engine still running smooth and no power loss.
What brand of valve treatment suitable for m43?
