Guys,Was just wondering if there would be any effect on the workings of the low tyre pressure sensor since i changed my wheels and tyres..17" RFT's to 19" normal tyres...

No effect on the FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) when u did changes to the wheels. All u need to do is everytime when u pump air, u need to reset/reinitialize the FTM, just like the usual or same way so that the system is able to capture the tire pressure and monitor & indicate any lost of pressure if any. Don't worry. Most important is to do the reset whenever u pump or check air.

hi there david,
I have also change from 17 to 18 non run flat.... but I a bit blur,... may i know where or how to reset the tyre pressure monitor..

Hey beemers3,

On how to reset the FTM (Flat Tyre Monitor).

-Turn on your car;
-Press the side button on the signal handle;
-Shift up and down till you see the FTM icon (an ! in a oval shape logo);
-Press on the side button again and you will the the check sign (a tick) disappear;
-Press and hold the the side button till the check sign (a tick) re-appear again.

Did I explain it correctly and clearly? Correct me if I am wrong for anyone reading this thread.

Cheers and ENJOY YOUR RIDE!!!

Thats exactly what needs to be done ! For all you e90ers, read the little manual about your cars that comes in that nice black folder :)

Really, it helps to distinguish and keep keep you aware of the diff signs that pop up.

Juz out of curiosity, where is the sensor for the FTM located?

I had the idea that the OEM wheels were specially designed for use with RFTs, and the FTM sensor was located on them. So if we change the wheels, the FTM function is no longer available?

GHS,
The FTM is part of the DSC in the E90s. What it senses is the rotational speed of each tire. So when one tire is really low or flat it will rotate at a diff speed then the rest and thus the system will warn. So it does not matter if you change tires or rims.

Unlike in the US, I think model 2007 have in built tire pressure monitors built into/add on the rims. Correct me if I am wrong here.

OK the 1st paragraph I understand.

But the 2nd paragraph: does this mean for the 2007 models (incl. the CKD ones in M'sia), there is an additional sensor on the rims?
