Lost of RPM while driving

Hi all,While driving on highway, sometimes my ride RPM will suddenly drop to 0 for 1-2 second. The error "Trans Failsafe Prog" will comes up after that.What do u think is the issue?Mika

transmission problem i guess. have u scanned the car?

simple solution, the gearbox hasn't got a problem, once the rpm drops below a certain rpm, the alternator charging is lesser than the 14.2v hence the gearbox ecu will not get proper voltage to it, hence the 'trans fail signal' will pop up. i had it on my car when my battery was not charging properly due to the alternator. i do get it some times cos i have yet to change it...

In that case, do check why your rpm dips, air leak ?

same issue with my brother car. wira 4G91 auto. facing the problem for couple of months. and lately car couldnt start and battery light on while engine running. DIY replace the worn carbon brush in the alternator last week. running well till now..
