urs a UK spec willy5?
looks pristine.
must hv spent hours of sweat on it.

Haha Yes Bro, it was a hot afternoon.

Well not perfect it has some dings on the doors from those in big SUVs when you park next to them.

Yes UK spec, I had a choice between Jap and UK but decided against Jap, too many electronic toys and that would go wrong over time and $$$ to repair.

good question, when I responded I was half and half about it, I was thinking e60 but my mechanic says don't do it. looking thru the e60 forum, there seems to be lots of electronic bugs. How's yr A4?

UK spec has the speedometer in Miles Per Hour, the Jap spec ones have it in km/h.
Some Jap spec 525i's are actually rebadged 523i's, so be careful.
They have 2.5 litre engines listed on their registration cards, so many dealers just swap the badge out on the boot.

Also, Jap spec cars tend to have higher specs - most will have the higher spec OBD, cruise control, electric seats etc as standard - the Japs love their toys! - LOL
Many UK spec cars on the other hand will have manual seats, basic OBD, no steering wheel controls....etc.

I dont agree with the steering wheel control...in years looking at the E39 in UK I havent seen one unit without the steering control. The meter cluster shows both Miles per hour and KM per hour. OBD low or high is an options list. Watch out for the rush in UK cars. High mileage normally.

Jap spec normally didnt come with alarm or PDC. Jap spec sat nav no use outside of Japan. Low mileage.

From memory, the main differences was that Jap spec had the big screen on the dash (sat nav could not be used and TV if you are into blur movies) and electric seats. The one I have (UK)) came with controls on the steering for radio and cruise control. Yes be careful on Jap 525 and also the year of manufacture there were many 523s rebadged 525 and even though registered in Japan in the year 2001 and 2002 the car was actually manufactured in Germany in 1999 -2000 (525 started in 2001). Looking at Jap reistration card is not accurate. Run a check on the VIN.

Could be the units I viewed - most of the UK units I viewed before I got to my E39 didn't have steering wheel controls and had the low-spec OBD.
The speedometer has both MPH and KM/H markings, but the MPH is prioritized (larger text). Jap and European spec cars do not have the MPH markings at all.
The Jap units that I looked at on the other hand, had all the electronic toys (most also had PDC), but oddly enough usually had cloth electric seats - lol
