Hi all,It has been awhile since I last logged in.My E39 still runs fine and awesome. Just that sometimes it still gives me the battery gremlins (see my thread at E39 forum).Anyway, back to the topic, I found a BMW 328ci UK spec at a used car lot.I am very interested at the car but I have some questions to ask as I am not familiar with the car. The car has done a decent mileage (ca 50k miles from new), which I hope it did as the conditions of the car say so (the black leather seats look immaculate)Hope those familiar with this BMW Ci E46 coupe can give some opinion:1) The car comes with BMW navigation but the screen becomes orange and no display except the clock. May I know how much to repair this?I know I can always change to the new Dynavin but I like to keep the car original as it comes with Harmann Kardon sound system as original.2) The instrument panel display is showing some signs or sun burnt (the door open warning area). Can I replace with a used unit and may I know how much?3)The rubbers around the rear quarter windows has melted due to our unrelenting sun. May I know where and how much to replace these items should I buy the car.4) Anything else I should check for a car this age?5) Lastly, how much should I pay for this car?The dealer wants RM50k but I am not sure that's the fair price considering the car is 13 years old. I am willing to pay him RM40k or i will just walk away.Btw it is shodded with 18inch BBS rims.many thanks in advance for any honest replies.Cheers.

The condition sound like has being abandoned for quite sometime under the sun. If mileage is genuine then u still have to replaced many parts such as mountings, seals, shocks, cooling system, fuel filter, water pump, vanos seals, etcs. 328 is M52B28 do look up on it. Some of our members mod it with 3.2 stroker kit and 5 speeds manual

Thanks anakswarak,

Yes it is M52B28.

Looks like it has been under the sun but other parts are ok eg dash no cracks and leather is pristine.

So what should I offer the dealer?

I am looking at those parts maybe I need to spend at least RM5k? so is RM45k a fair price?

45k is fair for ci as most tip top and loved unit still around 60k, do remember to reserve some cash for repairs.

I presumed top overhaul or full overhaul plus gearbox overhaul or manual conversion is in your plan also all modernisation, all that will cost you about 20k

The car's paintwork looks ok albeit some minor scratches here and there. Probably brushed some tree branches ?

Perhaps it has been sprayed once on the outside not too long ago. Minor accident perhaps?

Anaksarawk,RM45k is my price. The dealer wants RM50k.

Do check for any rust spots since 13 years old UK imported cars probably have some rusty places here & there... avoid if the condition is severe

E46 ci market price always higher than sedan.......

For rm50k , its a bargain if the engine and gearbox got no issue......more importantly is the chasis.....make sure not involved in any serious accident b4 .....

It was imported in 2000 or 2001 so spent only a couple of years in the UK. I have checked. It is spotless. No rust present.
Just like any Malaysian CKD cars of similar age condition.

Accident free (major ones I mean), saw some tell tales of a front respray s0 perhaps some bum kissed in the past?:hmmmm:

Ask the dealer for a test drive. See how the engine and gearbox respond. Feel the feedback thru the steering. listen to the rumble of the engine......all the best.
