I have a similar problem during hard acceleration (e46) on 2nd and 3rd gears. Was told by a few mechanics, this problem can be ignored as it's not vital to be changed. "If you can tolerate the vibration, it's ok." I was also told it will not be damaging in the long run- am a bit sceptical on this comment though.

Does anyone know how much is a new drive shaft?

If we are driving a Proton most don't mind some vibration. However if one is driving a Bimmer E46 then it should not be tolerable. I would get it replaced even if it was my old E23 or E28!

took the car on friday evening after servicing the long shaft.....according to them just need to do balancing only, bearing no need to change.

After effect, rides minus vibrations....& yes much better...but my car stil got rumbling sound a bit...suspect now tyre lah...but as far as the balancing is concern....satisfied for the price paid and the result.....pocket cost....< RM 200/= but whole day job....

Where did you send for service and balancing? I need to send mine too. RM200. is a fair price.:burnout:

my e30 got this "klok klok" sound when i shift gears and when maintaining a certain speed then tap the accelerator. This sound would come out.

I had replaced the long shaft centre bearing, it was settled for a short period, then it's back again..

does it have anything to do with the long shaft couplings? Would the driveshaft cause any of these sound?

im bout to face the same prob too..
im looking around allready(better to keep spare) since mine is 325 MANUAL !
according to my mechanic is very hard to find...anyone??
