What is the different for the local made windscreen and the imported Germany made windscreen? Definitely i know the price is different, what i meant is the function.

IN my opinion, there is nothing special about German made windscreen, it will also easily got chipped if hit by stones, you can also see some "wave" effect from certain angle..if you know what i mean.

Regret changed mine to German made ( i tot it has no "wave" effect), even is claimed from insurance, my advice is better keep some $$ in your pocket la..hehe.

Some said ori windscreen cost rm2300, some said cost only rm1400..Why got the huge different? How much u changed last time for the ori one?

The locally made e39 windscreen is around RM800 (made by Malaysian Sheet Glass Sdn. Bhd).

Now are dilemma btwn the local or import one..

One of the mechanic said even local made also got two type of windscreen, one is MSG windscreen, one is non-branded windscreen..

Anyone change the front windscreen recently arr??

bmw7833..

use the local ones, only difference is the hardness.. that's all...in other words, the stones impact will not crack your screen easily.. as for the stone chips, the original ones are quite easily be chipped..

btw, MSG does a lot of OEM for all cars..

I changed to local windscreen plus original v kool for a total sum of RM 1,800.00. No choice as the sum insured for my windscreen is only RM 1,800.
But I honest feel nor see any difference from the original.
But my windscreen crack was sad. I was driving along at 80 km/h and I suddenly saw a 6 inch crack. There was no sound or impact at all and when my maid washed the car in the morning, there was no crack.
It seems that even if the is a small chip from a stone which you cannot see, after sometime, it will suddenly develop into a crack. This happens when the impact is at the edge of the windscreen.
If I saw it earlier before it became a crack I would have repaired it as keeping the original windscreen is still preferred.

RM1800 for front windshield + whole car V-Cool?

I dun think so. Must be Vkool for front screen only.

How's yr windscreen replacement? Keep me update:love:

my windscreen has like a layer of roughness on it. in the sunlight, u can see the reflection of many different dots. i already tried glass polish, but no diff. anyone know a shop that can polish off a layer?

thanks

Mine is exactly in the same situation as yours as I travelled the N-S every week. Got it changed about a year ago to the German made but noticed that it chips very easily. Lots of dots now especially when you are facing the sun. Previously changed it for RM3000 though.

...try using clay bar & rub on the windscreen to remove some of the roughness.. make sure u lube the windscreen first. :)
