Greetings to all e60 sifus,im new to this e60 thread, previously i own e28 520i and i just bought e60 530i year 04 japan spec(waiting for loan approval) and i would like to ask all the sifus here regarding wat to check in the car to know that its in good condition ?im staying in penang n the car is in butterworth arearite now i see theres no map in the idrive...here i would like to ask how to check the suspensionengine mountingengine itself?tq in advance for your kind help~!

Would suggest you send the car to an experienced BMW specialist workshop to do a full diagnosis and other mechanical test.

Bro ...congrats on ur new purchase. BTW , there are a lots of Q&A in the forum@ e60 thread itself . Feel free to read thru and most of the common questions have been discussed and answered extensively. Welcome bro and enjoy ur stay .

Thanks for the reply... Ive seen some of the discussed issue..

N im keen to know how to check those item before i took it to the specialist...

is there any reliable mech in penang for e60 for diagnosis?

N i would like to confirm with the sifus here.. Can idrive from the japan spec convert to the uk's?
1st its cause of the frequency
2nd the navigatin system shows japan map only

Thanks in advance sifus

Many discussions based on this in the threads but bottom line is....
Yes, you can change the whole unit but it's gonna cost you. Currently changing the frequency on your FM, enabling TV on motion and enabling MP3 function on your Jap Spec is possible for a price of RM500-800+ (pick and choose) - check the threads by princevick or PM him.

IMHO, forget about your navigation system and just go with your Garmin or Papago device. Wait until your HU is faulty then only change as you like la. An ad in Mudah quoted RM25k for the Jap-UK conversion.

As for the checking of the car, bring along your fav mech or drive it to the mech shop cause they will need to hoist it up. the 1st couple of 'lemons' I saw were only caught when they hoisted it up. Most dealers are ok with it cause it is not a RM10 item you are buying from them anyway. Peace of mind and wallet in the long run!

2 options for your iDrive. One is as bro desbimmer says, i.e. changing your freq and adding a 3rd party GPS, etc...

For me, I also have a 2004 530. I just changed the entire CCC. But it will cost you, around RM4-5K nowadays i believe. However, note that BMW does not produce the SatNav maps in DVD form now. Latest I have is for 2010 only. And that stinks already (i.e. few places still not in map). So maybe a 3rd party GPS is more useful if you really depend on it to go rayau-rayau.

Wats the main function of it bro??

Ask Mr. Google first la bro. Do some of the easy research first. Tak dapat then you are most welcome to drop a questions that our sifu's here ever willing to help. To much spoon feed no good la.

Congrat on getting the 530i. I'm aiming for that too. If possible without Active Steering. I will want to get the muscular feel of handling like E39.

Errr i can see the other thread saying its like a common problem to the e60... Active steering

Bro, we can still get the Nav map in CD form. They stopped producing the maps in DVD but 2011 Malaysia map can still get in CD form which is sufficient. The DVD drive is backward compatible with CD.

Latest 2011 Malaysia Map CD part number 65902181487 (dont wanna ask the price from BMW since it will be at blood sucking price, wait until somebody produce cheap copies)
