Whoa! Sorry to hear bro. Bring it for a diagnostic. Better learn from my mistake. Mine kaput when I jalan jalan in Mlk. But its so coincidental! Mine finally kong liao 3 weeks ago and hopefully can get the car back this weekend.

Mine is the transmission fault...cold sweat when i hear the Ding sound however after i turn off the engine then every thing is fine. I am now thinking to chop shop or Sg to get the gear box. Beside that , i am also on delemma to change the E39 engine to 3 liter since i change the gear box.

Heart and pocket pain...somemore just after CNY.....i think i will ride my bike for the friday TT......(*_*)

Can you share with us what is your issue ?

Just the mechanicals, gear oil pump, gearbox repair kit, clutch plate and seals. Good news : solenoid and electronics OK. Bad news : about RM 7000 + labour.
At least its done by BMW dealer and service centre so peace of mind after the repairs.

Last year's headache : Change complete air con system, a new set of Michelin PS3s and complete new cooling system with freaking new hoses and pipes and stuff not to mention the usual wear and tear.
My E30 also drain my $$$, new brake servo, new set of tyres Bridgestone, new brake discs and pads, new mountings and tie rod.
Bo pian lor. Old cars are like that. Lucky prepare some $$$ ah. However, hoping that no big problem anymore cause wanna save for another conver.
Please dont tell my wife. Cabutz!

P.S> Anthony, you might wanna recondition the gearbox instead of using a 2nd hand unit. But if you have decided to change engine too, then....

Can you share with us what is your issue ?

E39 engine? E60 gearbox is 6 speed and damn expensive. I think your problem is the valvebody that will cost about 6k plus. Common prob for E60. I think you mod to much la to increase the power. I always said no replacement for displacement. U can push to much on 520 engine to perform like 525. power mod for NA is not cheap.
