Hi all,Sorry i'm noobies here.I'm planning to own a BMW E46,but my friend own a Mercedes W203 n he tell me that C200K(2001) part is much cheaper then BMW 320(2001).Is that true? But this 2 car also made in German:(.Somebody can advice....

not sure about that ... maybe not ... but very sure cheaper than proton perdana parts :21::21::21::bird:::21:

does it matter that much? unless ur car will be visiting the workshop ALL the time, i'd rather go for the car i want to drive than getting a car because ur friend says its cheaper? if u want cheap parts, get a kanchil :)

Will you be driving the car for the ultimate driving experience or cheaper spare parts? =/

+1

if u want to be a chauffeur drive a merc. if u want to be a real driver, drive a bmw :)

Cheaper is not the way to put it... MB parts dont fail as often/quickly as the Bimmer... at least for me!!

Yes, Mec parts are cheaper than BMW in general.. so it doesn't make sense why you should pay more for a brand new Merc compare to a BMW.

Its a difference in marketing strategy, cars sell cheap, parts sell expensive; cars sell expensive, parts sell cheap loo... your choice.. :p I picked the cheap car.. :p

A used unit of MB always have higher value when compared to BMW... i think at least a year more expensive...

bro, its gonna be pretty hard to advise with such a general enquiry. it would be best to ask which particular part is cheaper similar to it would not be easy to tell you which laptop is best although both are the same price +/- as there are specific details to deal with. ie. ram, hard disk, anti-virus..yadda...yadda...yadda...

furthermore, your friend may have a headache free car as compared to someone who bought a brand new car with lots of problems. well, even new tv or fridge also have problems. who ever said life was fair?

merc part is definitely cheaper than bmw part, i have an e280 and a 730i at home, and it is definitely a lot more costly to maintain a bmw than a merc. A merc is usually for older age wealthy ppl, bmw for wealthy youngster :) BMW also depreciates faster than merc, so if you ask me, for the equivalent amount of money, a merc would be more worth it, but for better driving and handling and quality, bmw of course. Merc build quality getting worse and worse especially ckd units, the interior feels like plastic and feels like it's very fragile....just my 2cents...lol

and mercedes can never beat bmw in comfort and handling. I have a 1999 e280 and 1987 730i, surprisingly the 730i is more comfortable than the e280, although the e280 has more power, engine new technology ma! even the electronics in a 1987 730i is more advance than the 1999 e280!

cheaper because lousier

To claim that one is lousier than the other will only create a never ending debate on the better car between BMW and MB. Personally, I think both brands create good cars, and that is the reason why they sell at such premium prices.

Just like in music, some ppl like Madonna, some ppl like Rihanna, some ppl like Coldplay (main sejuk) and so forth....due to different taste.

If you like MB, go get a MB. If you like BMW, go get a BMW. If you like proton, then god bless you.

to be fair bro, many people buy a proton because its affordable. not everyone can afford a bmw or MB, let alone afford to maintain them. i have owned protons for more than 10 years, and i still own a proton today. the cars have rarely ever given me any problems, and have proven to be extremely reliable transport. maybe you should clarify your statement "If you like proton, then god bless you." and what exactly did you mean by that.

but then again, i thought this was a discussion on MB spareparts vs BMW..

personally, I agree that generally, merc parts are cheaper, but i think mainly for the older merc models only.

Problem with Proton cars is their not-so reliable accessories, lately there has been great improvement though.
I wouldn't worry my Waja would break down by the road side, but my E39.

Both BMW & Merc are great cars. You wouldn't go wrong either way.

I think it 2 different class you're comparing , the 7 Series should meet with S-class and the 5 Series should be with E-Class

bro, its not so much that proton is a bad product but i've had my fair share of disappointments on quality and reliability. compare it to the bmw or merc, audi or saab its a different class and i guess thats what everyone is trying to say. of course, its not fair comparing apple to an orange but the fact remains.

just thank god we're not driving a proton or perodua. toyota whom people claim to be the most reliable car in the world, and all the jd power stuff they win, is all bollocks. i owned two toyota's and they were crap:stupid:
