Hi all sifus, friends and bimmer loversJust one Q to ask here: Is Oil Leak a common problem for E46? I ve this issue recently with my E46 318i Yr 2004 and I ve change all the seals but seems the leak is still there, NOT the severe leak that creates a pool of oil but those tiny ones that sekejap ade sekejap takde. Took to the mechanic after checking he also cannot find the leak source. Any bros experience this issue? BTW the color of the oil stain is brownish gold color and biggest possibility is the engine oil. All seals changed including the oil sum gasket and the valve cover gasket....Hope to hear some sharing...Thanking you all in advance

Bro try to check your gear shift selector, mine too happen last year and took me quite some time to notisfy the leak.

Is your Yr 2004 E46 318 2.0, ie N42 engine? If yes, then yes it's common for this engine.

I think it should be N46B20 right?

And to your question Ivan, yes the 4 potter is famous for leaks. I got leaks from vacuum pump and oil separator before, and its prone to engine oil consumption too...

Just replace the was washer as bro sachseelan mentioned. If i am not mistaken it's cost me rm50-60 only.

Hi bro Crymson and bro rg470:
Not too sure the engine model but according to some bros I met at the mechanic garage, its actually the same model engine with the earlier batch of E90.
