I have this problem with my CD changer:Every time I play the CD the sound from the left speaker disappears when I hit a bump. Later, the sound comes back again when I hit another bump. The problem occurs everrytime I play the CD. The sound from both speakers are OK if I listen to the radio or watching TV. I took the car to AB and the technician told me that it was a common problem with E39. All I had to do was to give a few taps on the changer. Well, he was right. The trick worked. But the problem is I am not happy with his explanation. The E39 is a BMW for God sake, not some piece of junk. I definitely cannot accept this from BMW.All Sifoos out there, need your help.

Dude,

Without really hearing/seeing the problem, it wud be hard for us to tell you what is wrong really but my bet is that there's a loose connection of sorts between the changer to the HU. On a personal note, forget about getting the AB guys to sort this - it's like getting your neighbourhood tire shop to fix a wonky auto transmission. Do find a good car audio / accessories shop and ask them to trace the problem.

Cheers,

Well, that was exactly what I thought BEFORE I went to visit AB. But, when he mentioned that "it is common in E39" I straight away thought that the guys in Munich and/or their vendor made a big mistake in designing. Anyway, thanks for your feedback.
