Hi detailers,There isn't much topic out there about interior detailing so I thought I'd start a thread about it.Will the SiFu's mind explaining what the interiors are made of so that everybody knows the proper products to get. Please correct me if I am wrong.Dashboard - Rubber looking leatherWoodtrimClear plastic on iDrive system and RPM metersWhat products and steps recommended to keep the interior clean and nice?Is this the proper step. 1) Clean the interior dash with natural shine protectant. Hi detailers,

What products and steps recommended to keep the interior clean and nice?

Basically, detailing is about cleaning, protecting/dressing and maintenance. You can either have one product for cleaning and another product for protecting/dressing, or you can get one that can do both. And as most of the 'multi-purpose' product, 'it could be good for both but excel in neither'. Have a good look at your interior, if it's still in a good (clean) condition, the 2-in-1 product would suffice, but if it's in a not-so-good condition, you might want to consider using a dedicated cleaner to really clean them down first before dressing them up with the proper protection/dressings.

For your questions, I'll assume that the interior is quite clean and well kept. And just for your info, I haven't got or used all of Meg's interior products but I do have their NXT Tech Protect and Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant and M39 (Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner).

Is this the proper step.

1) Clean the interior dash with natural shine protectant. Which one? the natural shine protectant or natural shine protectant vinyl/rubber. How does the NXT protect differ

What you're doing here is doing some LIGHT cleaning and putting down some protection. I don't think you should expect the Natural Shine to 'deep clean' the interior. Checking on the product code for the two protectant that you mentioned, I think they are both the same cuz their product code is the same which is G4016. I don't know why Meg's Mal separated the two.

I've used NXT and it leaves quite an olily/greasy look, not to my liking. I don't know about NS Protectant since I haven't use it before. But M39 is quite nice and it just leave a satin sheen behind.

2) Maintain weekly with Quik Interior Detailer. Can it be used on all parts of the interior? how about the clear plastic?

I've use the QID on everything except for the carpet and leather, so far I haven't noticed any ill-effects.

3) What's a better choice for the leather. Going for the 2 step, cleaner and aloe conditioner, or all in one?
As mentioned in the beginning, depending on how bad (or good) the condition of your leather, you can either have 1 dedicated cleaner and 1 dedicated conditioner or, you can have a 'compromised' cleaner/conditioner.

This is confusing as Meguiars have too many products. I've been wanting to start detailing but I am giving myself time to see if I can make it into a passion so I am beginning with the interior.

Oh btw, does anybody know where I can get Zaino's Z9 and Z10 in Malaysia?

I haven't heard of any Zaino products selling in Malaysia, nearest would be SG. I've used a few of the Zaino's product but unfortunately I haven't got the opportunity to try Z9 and Z10. But if you're looking for something that's quite similar you can try DG 441 Leather Shampoo and DG 221 Leather Conditioner since they're locally available or else you'd need to contact autorage in sg for the Zainos.

Thx

Hope it helps.

Regards.

Honestly you couldn't go wrong in using BMW car care product whic is available from BMW dealerships ... I have use BMW's plastic emulsion conditioner, rubber conditioner and also glass polish to great effect tho a bit expensive lerrr.
For leather seats i have heard nothing but praises for leatherique products (www.leatherique.com) for the effectiveness and ease of use.

The leatherique products looks pretty promising. Seems like only one bottle of rejuvenating oil enough for one application for 5 seater sedan.

Are meguiars products the same too? one bottle per application.

I am a newbie therefore I want to start with the basics.

The car is only a month old. How soon should I start to take care of the leather?

Again, I haven't used Leatherique before, but reading the testimonials and usage by overseas forum members, it seems more like a product for leather restoration. Since you said your ride is just a month old, I don't thing you would need something like that. It's better to go for the BMW's (Sonax???) line like B33mEr said, or the like of Meguiars, Duragloss, Optimum, etc. I have the Meg's GC Aloe Cleaner and Conditioner, been using them around every two or three months for the past 3 years to do the whole car (Waja), and I'm just into half a bottle of both.

It's a good idea to start applying some leather conditioner to the seats as soon as possible, unless yours has been sent to a reputable detailing centre and had gone through the leather treatment/dressings.

Regards.
