Insurance wants to call my car a total loss

Feeling a little depressed now.

Had a collision with a divider on the MEX highway a couple of weeks ago, no other cars were involved. It was a rainy day. DSC failed.

So the thing is, my car is an E46 cabriolet/convertible 323ci. When I renewed my insurance at Pejabat Pos middle of this year, they estimated the market value of the car is RM18k. I tried to argue that I normally insure this car at RM60k, but they said "this is what it says in the system" and I couldn't argue with them.

So now the panel workshop estimated my car to cost me RM15k to repair (to be honest I think it's only RM5-6k to fix). The insurance company (Etiqa) has approved a "total loss" of RM15k.

​I don't want a total loss declaration, I just want the car back.

Can anyone suggest a workshop I could get this car fixed myself and reject the insurance claim? What's involved is the front bumper, bonnet, fenders, front light, rear light, rear boot cover and rear bumper.

If anyone has any idea at all, please share. I'm feeling a bit stumped right now.

Condolences on your mishap. But what the heck.... from the pics it doesn't look like a total loss.

u have to inform the insurance company that you would not like to declare as total lost & require to repair
the car.

Your tyres looked pretty worn up or maybe just a blurry pic, but thank God you were ok and the incident didn't involve other road users. The last corner before MEX toll is also another tricky point.

You could try contact this bodyworks and paint specialist Ah Meng in KD. His job is good at a decent price. He also does insurance claims, u could ask his advice if u want. Some otais here used to send their cars there for bodywork repairs and gatal2 tukar paint colour of their rides hehe. Sent my GTR for touch up after a pregnant lady bumped into it last time *ouch*. All done within one day with reasonable charge.
