I have been enjoying the drive of my diesel car since July but one peeve I have is having to search for a petrol station that has a regular (relatively smaller sized) nozzle on their diesel pump, which is extremely difficult to find on the usual route that I take everyday. I have numerous encounters that I can't even fit nozzle into the orifice of the fuel tank and ended up driving off to the next petrol station and the next and the next until I can find one. Also many a times, even if the nozzle can fit, it can only go in about 1.5 inch as there is the coil-like contraption along the nozzle that prevents the whole length of the nozzle to be inserted into the tank. In this case, I cannot rely on the automatic trigger mechanism of the pump to stop the pump when my tank is adequately full and therefore have to guess the amount of fuel I can pump into the tank. So far, I only a Shell station which is situated close to my house has the correct sized nozzle but Shell is not my choice of diesel (it caused my exhaust tip to have that greenish-white deposit, something I refer to as "smegma"...haha).I find this very irritating and inconvenient whenever I need to fill up. Do you fellow oil burners share the same frustration or don't have that problem at all? Maybe we can list down the petrol stations that have the appropriate sized nozzle so that we don't have to hobble around to look for one.

I believe this was brought up sometime ago. Maybe you can browse the diesel section (E90 diesel kakis) to see if its there ...:top: ...

You can check with your sales advisor on getting the reducer piece or you can always get it fabricated in one of the machine shops. Mine was given FOC by my SA. This would solve the fitment issue, but not the auto trigger issue.

As far as knows, the Petronas petrol station always have the right size nozzle for diesel. Look for the diesel pump come together with petrol pump (always located inside/sheltered), not the pump the trucks or pick up track always fill up (Always located outside).

interesting topic..apart from the nozzle issue, perhaps other inconveniences of a diesel car can also be listed here:

1) nozzle issue
2)
3)
4)

Theres 3 pump sizes, the L size defintly dont work, M size is perfect even with spring thingy, and the auto fill up work, some wud hang out a bit but I've been using that since day 1. S size can be overcome by inserting your screwdriver to lift up the latch. But honestly this is a minor issue bro.. :3:

But the issue is that we won't know which petrol station has the regular (appropriate) sized nozzle and which doesn't until we parked our cars, flip up the fuel flap, insert the credit card to initiate the pump and finally lift up the nozzle...only to find out "alamak cannot fit leh".

i got this problem on the first day when i collected my car. but after some times, i found that i should look for "Bio-diesel" word at the station, and usually the nozzle size fits well. so far i only pump 4 times since collection of my car and there is a petronas near by my office which offer that. good luck bro

check out this thread for work around solution to nozzle problem.
