sure do... :D :D

Umm, just wondering: Are there brakes for the E30 that is drum and disc combination together?

What do you mean mate?

If you mean both drum and disc on the same axle, the answer would be NO. But if you mean disc in front and drums at the rear, the answer is YES.

I am pretty sure you meant the latter.....in fact mine is a disc-drum set up which is pretty standard in a E30 320i. I believe only the E30 318iS, 323i, 325i, M3 came with all disc system.

Does that answer your question?

the rear disc brakes for the E30 is in fact drum+disc... Drum for the handbrakes and disc for the normal brakes...

Nope, I meant it the first way. I've noticed some cars have rear drum brakes with discs as well, which is really good if you're into pulling the handbrake alot.

Ah oops, didn't see your reply there. So the standard rear disc brakes is drums+disc? Is that for all models of BMW? Or is it like that with all rear disc brakes and i'm just being a dumbass? :p

there are rear disc system which doesn't have a brake drum for hand brakes... ie Proton Satria.
For the Satria, when the handbrake lever is pulled, the cable will pull another lever at the rear brake caliper to grip the disc....

As for BMW, most of the rear disc brake system is disc+drum. However, they might have changed that for the later models.

Joyi....

since u drive E30 - the answer is everything above a 323i ( inclusive ) has disc / disc brakes. The hand brake activates a drum brake within the rear disc.....( which means there's 2 brake system in the rear disc...)

U have a 320, hence it's a disc / drum combo. AFAIK, ur handbrake is operating on ur rear drums. same for the 318 as well.

Anything different means a rear disc conversion has been done....

I see, thanks for the info guys!

Btw, do aftermarket brakes for the E30 usually have the drum+disc combo? Or would I have to specifically look for one that does?

joyi,

ur question is not clear-lah......as advised, all AFTERMARKET brake kits, parts will replicate the ORI setup unless you are UPGRADING to something else ( biger size rotors, calipers etc etc ). If the latter is the case, you are on your own.

If I think I understood your question - then why would they be different? Go and see your aftermarket catalogue and check ( ie. the DISC ). It wun be listed suitable for E30 if they mess up the system configuration.

Know what you want, spend wisely.
