Here's my story:My mistake was not doing a thorough research in this forum before doing a Progman for my E60... on Monday 10 Nov 2008, my car was sent to do Progman in order to upgrade the software from original v25 to v30. I want to have the "AuxIn" on my iDrive screen... this is because I wanted to install an Interface, Garmin GPS system and DVD player to my car.I'd been told by the audioshop boss that it would cost me about RM2200 for the whole upgrade which practically took the whole day. This was quoted by the BMW workshop that he normally sent all BMW cars to. The whole process was smooth but right now I am sure that most of you have realised that I'd been conned right???A fellow forumer, chookleng, had his E60 updated to v31.5 at another workshop for just only RM350!!! and it was 2 days after my car was updated. The workshop owner still had the ball to tell me that his software was the latest... felt like killing someone! Now that I know that I'd been conned... I was so effing pissed off that I called the audioshop owner and voiced out my dissatisfaction. Surprisingly, he was shocked to know the truth too... he claimed that he didn't know anything about the actual pricing, as he is not specialised in BMW stuff except for In-Car Entertainment. After making a few calls to other BMW specialists, he admitted that I'd been overcharged... as even Auto Bavaria charged approx 1000 for the progman (including tax!). He had some arguments with the guy and promised to refund me the amount in full without extra charge. Anyway, for you guys... I hope that you be more careful when dealing with this particular shop below:Raymond's Auto Work @ Sunway DamansaraP.S: HIs workshop is located right in front of Exotic Mods (Shedden)...

Aiyo this shop ka.. They want to charge me RM6K for a complete overhaul for my M43 engine 1 year ago.. i run fast-fast n never go back 2 tis shop again...

good for you bro :top:
I'm not as lucky... kena chopped! But good thing is that I don't deal directly with Raymond. Instead, it was the Audio shop boss who dealt with him. He withheld the payment and promised to refund me in full... otherwise my $$$ is as good as gone

haha......but our bro thule didnt manage to run on time. he already kena fish + kapak there. amazing tat tis shop still can survive up to date wit his luxury fees passing down to consumers

masih ingat pepatah berikut???

"Sepandai-pandai tupai melompat, akhirnya jatuh ke tanah juga" :D

dan sekiranya tupai itu tak jatuh, saya akan menggunakan senapang semi-auto kepunyaan bapa saya... tembak dia turun!

Mixed reviews from customers on this guy's place, some say very good, some say very bad. I didn't go to him simply bcoz his quote was a little on the high side.

I'm sorry this had to happen to you, just remember to check out a few more places before deciding.

Raymond Auto is a little high (i always nego d price with him b4 agreeing) but I can vouch for the man's work ... he does quality work. Bro thule at least you got refund from him ... so everything ends well i guess

Maybe his workmanship is good... but that doesn't mean that he can charge about 7 times more than the market rate outside bro...
Read my thread carefully... it was not Raymond but the Audio shop boss who refunded me... he stood firm by the original quotation of RM2200!!!
This is my 1st bad experience as a Bimmer... don't think that I'll be back there again

I don't want to prolong this issue but i had a chat with Raymond today and this is what he has got to say on couple of things

1) There was no request from the your audio guy asking for reduction in price ... however your audio guy did called him up again to re-confirm how much d dealership would charge for software upgrade and re-confirm he did. there was no request from your audio guy or from you for price cut

2) Raymond did not charge rm2200 it was much less ... for evidence ask for the bill Raymond charge to your audio guy and see who try cut whose throat

Thule it is obvious that you did not investigate this matter thoroughly before making accusations and from my point of view TUDM is right when hinting that your audio guy was jacking up the price and not Raymond. It is your audio guy is at fault for jacking up d price too much ... and you are aware that your audio guy might be at fault and yet you point finger to an innocent party ... plus did you call up Raymond himself an ask for reduction or inquire why d price was high???

Thule,

You have accused a business establishment of cheating you. It happens to be a place I know well. I can vouch for Raymond's character and honest approach to conducting business.

I have duly informed the committee of the contentious nature of this thread.

I have heard Raymond's side of the story, which is quite different. I leave it to him what actions he wants to pursue.

To the rest of us, please be careful and have our facts and evidence in order before making accusations. We are entitled to our opinions. However, libel is another matter.

Mr. Lee has called on this matter and after reading this thread and hearing the other side of the story, I have my reservations on this matter.

I would like to remind everyone that while we advocate freedom of speech, it does not mean that anyone will not be liable from lawsuits from distressed parties, especially with unsubstantiated claims.

That being said, this forum will always welcome feedback from workshops irrespective whether its positive or negative as it will help all members to decide where to send the rides for service and repairs. Just becareful with what you write!!

Cheers

I have been usuing Raymond since ever he opened his shop 2 years ago. There has not one complain i had with his charges or his reputation.
Exotic Mods uses him for all thier work and he is known to be honest.

Anyway your story just does not gel. You siad your Audio guys always sends all the BMW car to him. Shouldn;t your audio guy know what the charges are?

I think you been conned by the audio guy and not Raymond. Even if his price might be more expensive, it probably be marginally or insignificantly higher.

You are are making some ignorant and naive accusation.
