Dear All Seniors,Lately I discovered that while on slow drive (appr at 30 km/hr or in the parking lot), my car is producing some howling noise from the engine compartment. However, the noise dissapeared once my car goes once my car goes beyong 50 km/hr. I wonder if any of you guys have had encounter similar problems? Hopefully it's not the gearbox. Please advise. Thank you in advance..Oris318

maybe at 30km its transforming to a wolf... :p

not very pro with BM but roughly know about cars... there are a few reasons or areas that you can check...

1. belting

2. bearings

3. breaks

unlikely it is the auto transmission unless you have any other complaints for the auto transmission...

Guys,

Thanks for the advices. I'll check with the mechanic this weekend, probably. Hopefully it's not the gear, otherwise I am going broke. Already spent more than RM4k on my car repairs and services in 1 month.

Oh.... Thanks for the jokes... it's it's a wolf inside the engine, i'll be so relieve. ..

Brad, we'll sure catch-up one of these days.

Might be the power steering pump noise due to lack of oil... might want to check that.

Check the wheel bearings. I have experience this in my previous wira before but after changing the ATF the roblem solved.

I would say wheel bearing. Pls let us know what ur finding.

Rgds

is it mechanical or engine sound?
i know my e36 325i had some bad howling noise at whatever speed, worse on the highway..was told it was due to my M3 front spoiler!! i was like wtf?? hah..

I had the same problem too...was told that it was the fan. Do keep us update dude.

Guys,

Went to the mehanic this afternoon, and he says the problem was cause by the power steering pump... He asked to return back next week, because he needs to look for the parts.

Wonder how much would that cost.......
