As for me, I never leave my car alone with the workshop whenever I sent my car for servicing or repair. If there is part to be changed, I will decide on the spot based on the visual inspection and recommendation from the workshop.

Based on my personal experience with a workshop other than my regualr (Not Mpower) where I am forced to leave my car alone for repair due to an emergency breakdown and repair, I actaully experience that the mechanic have only hand tighten 10 bolts of my 2 wheels when they changed the brakes pads. Now that is what I will call negligence.

Negligence n deliberately cheating r 2 other things, bro...At times, we could forgive negligence, but a con job...deserves Hell !!!

Guess its same with all the mechs then.... isnt there any ethical, genuine , honest and skillful mechs left in this country of ours anymore???????.......

How bout those guys from TOC (the otomotif college)? heard they have high tech equip all and endorsement from BMW, Merc, Audi and more?

I can say this with lots of confidence! THERE ARE 9/10 WHORSHOPS LIKE THAT! I am not surprised a bit if Mr.Nutton really doing all those.. Tell that to me, I will yah.. yah.. anything new?

Same reason why I never recommend any workshop to others because I trust none of them, even if it belongs to my high school best friend.. :(

Agree with Jarance, we never or seldom leave our car alone with the workshop. Because everytime we do that, some other items will sure fail.. :(

The last such mistake I made was when having my Perdana. Balik kampung and car stuck at kampung due to starter unable to crank. Was holiday, so workshop all tutup. Took my old man's car return to KL and got my old man to do some work, like getting a tow truck and send the Perdana to a nearby workshop to fix the starter. (if manual car, then no problem lor.. :( )

Starter fixed with a reconditioned one (I suspect only dirty carbon brush la.. what to do?) and I return the following week to collect the car. Damn, I found out the starter not right because cranking is extremely rough.. then realise they put in a Proton Saga starter.. return the car to the workshop, leave it there again.. receive phone call from old man the ignition coil also fail.. had to replaced.. so more than RM1k spent just for some dirty carbon brush.. now u all know why certain people complain maintaining Perdana more expensive than UDM?

That was the last time I had to leave the car behind at the workshop and I really won't do it again.. even if I had to take a week's leave!!

Look at the rate of new workshop opening now? Why?

I never allow workshop to buy me food or drinks. I make sure I get the bill for them (bribe them if u like..) to prevent such ill fate to my car.. The boss will personally inspect the jobs before releasing my car as he know how I use the car and if any of the screw not tighten, they know I will return to haunt them in their sleep.. :D

Moral of the story: Don't trust any workshop.. sad but true..

I've sent my e39 to mpower from day 1 and I've mostly dealt with Mr bala during the initial services & later with Mr Nathan and I wanna stress that I have not had any problems with their service or repair...price wise slightly steep but service done was good.No complaints...This is my personal experience and opinion...

John ... because you don't know what is happenning to your car .......
never in history that new battery goes flat every month and happened 3 months on the row .... best thing is the problem not solved till now.

Even I am not good in technical but 1st time I saw yr e39 there ( I am with one of this Club Founding member), I knew what is yr problem which was agreed by the 'otai'. But since you talk so much good this about them, so we keep quiet la ...

huh?? what do u mean,?? why mention my name?

Wah, ini tread from where is the workshop sudah explode jadi how is the workshop! Hot. ler

Speaking of workshops let me share some advise so less problem and gaduh-gaduh with them.

1) If you can, sit there ,wait and observe what they do to your car. Why? Because u not around, when come back, car is done, washed and ready, they show u a bill, they say many other things also rosak and change for you. Yes they of course change the parts but is it really rosak? Then the place they change also very dalam-dalam tak boleh check. Biasa punya --> flush gearbox & clean injector, nut jam-lah, sensor wire putus lah, hose pecah.

2) Some workshop, they see something a bit wrong, but never mind to tell u this visit. They KIV first, no need change , even simple thing that can be done in 5 mins, why? So they can hantam you labour charges another time when u really come in and tell him the problem that u have found. Then he tell u the answer what rosak and you think he's damm good mechanic. And you pay feeling good.

3) Never leave your spare parts at the shop if you intend to reuse them. Leave only things you don't want anymore. If you leave too long, the barang sure become lost or switched with somebody elses things. Take it home. I seen many times, workshop taking things from somebody's engine when they rush for time, like a starter motor, flywheel, etc. so they can get the other car finished. When owner come, they also look as confused as the owner. Worse case, workshop owner also drive same model as your car!!!

4) Some of these mechanic they actually good guys in general, want to do proper business and also some respect. Sometimes they also sensative, moody. So tengok hari also. But mostly cannot be treated as friend. still a mechanic - customer relationship. Sometimes, those who bodek paling kuat also kena potong also don't know. Keep it professional is better. They won't try and take advantage so much cause they not sure who u are.

5) some workshop don't like you to bring your onw parts except that part is a special order or custom made or modified stuff that they don't /cannot supply. Some things like oil seals best to let them supply cuase if leaking after change they are responsible and fix FOC . If you brought the oil seal, they blame it on you, lo.

cheers.
