People,Went outstation for a few days so my bimmer was not moved for almost a week. When I came back, I started to notice a few ants in the car. They must have moved their queens whilst I was away. There was once I left a cake in the car for an hour or so, hundreds of ants decided to help themselve to it  Any tips hours to get rid of them? Parking under the hot sun seems to have no effect. Not too sure where their main hideout is. Anyone has exprienced similar situation before? Please help

i've had this problem before in my brand-new suv (they must have parked it under a tree or something while waiting for my collection)

there is a type of ant powder you can get from pharmacies or hardware shops. can't remember the name, but it comes in a small packet and it's made in china. just let the ants eat the powder and they'll disappear overnight. apparently the powder causes the ants to fight among themselves to death.

good luck

Thanks conan. Wow! Never knew such a stuff exists. I think I need a few bags for my house too.

heh,i did try this out, cannot get rid out all of them, but still..
i put sweet(gula gula) on my dashboard,n leave it for few hours,n came back with Ridsect, spray them all.
at least it works. :p

I would say you may have the whole colony in your ride. I mean thousands of ants! The location where you park is the main factor. They are everywhere; front, back, left, right, top, bottom...everywhere!!

Try spraying with insecticide 1st. Spray the whole car. Inside out, top & bottom.
Relocate to another area to park. See how thing goes in few days. If fail, then only use the powder. I'd yet to try the powder.

We had this problem before... Mortein worked best. We found that the ants made a nest in the glove compartment, and when we sprayed in the glove box, it rained ants!

One and a half cans of spray later, the Queen ant dropped dead! Powerful sucker. Unfortunately, the car smelled like insect repellant for weeks!!

Aside from that, I know daun pandan gets rid of cocroaches, don't know if it works for ants as well or not...

Good luck!

i'm surprised the powder didn't work. maybe it's a different type/brand. i used the powder as i didn't want to spoil the car by spraying with ridsect or mortein!

Seb.....
to add to piedpipers advice on ant colonies in the car.....

1) to rid of ants if they r colonising the dash/glove compartment area....
spray mortien/ridsect in 1 minute slots for 30mins and eventually they will all fall to the carpet.

2) get the insect repellant disc(try ridsect and get the ones for cocroaches) and leave it under the front seats and also on the rear floor panels...

3) it may also be possible tht they got in ur car via the gear area....look there and spray there if u have to.

4)lastly,after spraying the car, leave ur windows open, doors and sunroof if u hav it and let it air tht way for a couple of days.....

* if possible try not to park on the grass verge as thts where those sodding cretins dwell and whn it rains or if its very hot the 1st place they all run and hide is......voila!!!our car!!! *

Wow lots of people tried spraying  Been avoiding spraying inside my car. Did try to bait them out with sweets on top of my car and spray them a few times but they are still around. Need to exterminate the queens i guess... Will try the powder option. Thanks for the replies guys! Appreciate it.
