hi otrolif...

it would be nice to introduce yourself here in the newbies section...

so getting a 323i ? is it a CBU model ?

conti cars are hard to maintain cos of the design of the cars, unlike japs..

you are fussy with oils... yeah it's a must for bmw's ... becareful what you put into the car... use back to the spec..

Garages' ? there's a lot around.. check out one of the threads or do a search in the forums.. there's a topic going around about it.

regards.

oh.. join us on our friday TT's ...

I don't know that E46 has a 323i model. CBU?

Yup, CBU. AB didn't bring them in then. 323 was the earlier batch along with the 328. Then it became 325 and 330.

I would recommend the 328 if you're considering something that year, if not then get a newer 325 at least. 323 is just a detuned 2.5l (170hp and 210Nm I think. someone can confirm this?). So you pay the same road tax but don't get the performance to match.

Potential for the car? HUGE! Depends from which Jap car you are coming from though. If it's an Evo, then you might be disappointed from handling point of view. But driving experience is definitely different. The feel good factor alone almost makes it worth it.

But then the maintenance comes in. Yes, it will be relatively expensive compared to Japs. Yes, you have to be a bit more particular about what you put in the car. But actually you can also find cheaper alternatives if you really want to. But do you? If you're going to be trashing the car and reaching the true potential, then you don't want so skimp on parts and have them fail you mid-corner or when you're pushing 200km/h. So yes, maintenance is a bitch, but when it comes to key components, I never skimp.

Oh, BTW, if you're around Subang area, then try out MSpeed. Look for Ah Meng. You can find his address if you search the threads.
