E30 M20 B20 1986KL/PJCould you guys mainly the E30 sifus advice me on the following. 1) I am thinking of upgrading the rear braking systems disc. i) How much would it cost cost me if I was to buy from a 2nd unit from chop shop or anywhere else. Price range?ii) What are the things I should look out for to ensure the unit is a good one and not be faulty after fixing.iii) What do i have to be aware of such as brake hoses and pipesiv) Is it advisable to use a 2nd hand handbrake cable of just use a new one? iv) What brand of brake oil should I use. 2) After lowering the car using Eibach Prokit and Bilstein black suspensions, I notice this situation which came about 6 months after lowering the car. i) My rear left tyre top is tilting inwards ( negative chamber). How and where should i do this. Could i jack the wheel back to place?ii) There is a 'cluck' sound when i take the car in a corner and the car jumps over rough roads. iii) after i sought the opinion of a small time non BMW expert mechanic, he claims my left rear absober is shaky. Is this normal? if its not, how do i rectify this. Thank you,

change all the brake hoses, bleed the hydraulic, and swap the masterpump & servo with a E32 one.

check your rear bushes.

hi bro...

saw one e36ti rear subframe at chop shop. and my friend is working there....

so tangan gatal. believe easily can get a nice set of rim.. hehehe

simple....

ur 1st question was an upgrade on REAR brakes....so here goes.
all your are doing if upgrading the rear is for mainly aesthetic purposes, which says - for mainly SHOW only. The front brakes takes most of your braking loads, so this is the more important end to upgrade 1st. Anyhow, since you are doing the rear, do the front as well then. read your fourmer's replies....for what to do.

ur 2nd question is on chamber of rear
its normal that when you lower your ride, the chamber on all 4 tyres goes negative. The best way to correct your chambers are chamber kit which on the trailing arm design rear of the e30 is a bit more involved....than say the front. Wun be cheap either but K-Mac makes such kits. Btw, negative Chamber gives u stability n enhanced grip to an extend, in corners....hence this is why race car have them but at expense of tyre lifespan. So in short, you can never have the best of all things at once.

have fun.

berserkdroid,

Whats the benifit of using steel braided?

It improves brake feel due to reduced expansion of the rubber hoses. Got them on my E30, feels nice..

Sorry to piggy back on the thread. All the suggested upgrades have been done on my car already. credit to the previous owner. I've since also added ATE powerdiscs recently. I'm specifically looking for the sort of gritty bite say....from an e90 for example. The only thing I can think of are upgrading calipers. what's a good caliper upgrade for the 325 for greater bite? I would imagine adapters to be used. I'm currently using jurids with the powerdiscs in the front and trw with brembos at the back. calipers are stock.

thanks.

softer pads should bite better. service ur calipers also....and I am assuming u have done the e32 servo upgradde n braided lines.

u want good bite, can get the Jurid Class A pads... Not the usual pads. I got mine from Calvin Tan.. Bear in mind though that the Class A pads have higher metal content.. So it will tend to eat your rotors..

thanks Jules and Fabian.

yes the servo upgrade and braided lines have been done. so staying with the current setup, it really boils down to the pads once again.

thanks again.

Hi guys.

Where would be a good place to get my hands on steel braided hoses?

Thanks

There's the locally sourced Pro RS sold by Rosedi Motorsport in Sunway few doors away from Motorsport Division...

And there's the more expensive Goodridge

And there's the Sparco ones which I saw in Miki Marketing in Spore for E30 M3..
SGD 270... 6 hoses.. 2 front, 4 rear..

oh btw, I no use steel braided brake hoses... I use normal rubber hoses but 'braided' with cable ties.... it worked for my car for at least 4 years... And took to the track various times...
