Does anyone know if the e36 318i M43 engine use the 80/88 or 90/91 deg c switch. Checked the catalogue and both are used in e36s. Question is which for our local cars... Any info.

thanks bro, i think you have a point on local temps. i bypassed the switch with jumper, chcked relay ok, check fan low and high speed ok... so the culprit is definatly the thermostat. will get the 80/88 when parts shop open after xmas and install, will report back here.

Ok. I took out the old unit and swapped with a new one. Confirmed it's 80/88 for my 318. The unit works fine but it's OEM made in Italy while the old switch was BMW germany. Hope the new one lasts. Bled the radiator after I installed. Fan kicking in at the right temps, all looks ok. Thanks.

Bro Godflesh, where did you buy the 80/88 thermostat? A friend is looking for one for his 318.
